    Hi iggs_1,

First how to find the processor name:

    1. Launch the Run command
    2. Type msinfo32 in the box and [Enter]
    3. You'll find the processor name in the right column, "Processor'
    4. Note it and compare with the list of Intel Broadwell processors.
    5. If it is listed, you have to install the chipset driver (Broadwell) otherwise the other driver.

PS: If you encounter some difficulties, you could give the first ten characters of the computer serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.

  • Hello,

You need this type of adapter to separate headphone/microphone plugs.

    Thanks Laurent
I have that Adapter and it still doesn't work
  • Which version of Windows do you use currently?

    Widows 10
  • May be I'm stupid but I have a little doubt about the adapter shipped with the microphone.

This one stated in my previous is different.

Normally 3 black rings, you can directly connect it to the laptop.

Is it your microphone? Do you use this adapter and how (please take a picture)?

    My apologies Laurent
My package is the one in your attached image. I have tried using it both ways, with just a original cord and also with the y splitter that they provide. Both ways unrecognised through my laptop. Should I purchase that adaptor in the previous post even though I have the one they provided?

Is this mic connected to an headphone or used alone?

    I use it alone
but mainly it's connected to over the ear headphones
  • but mainly it's connected to over the ear headphones

    1. This one have a mic input?
    2. Have you tried with another computer?

PS: The adapter stated in my previous message is useless and not the solution.

According to my notes, the S7 has a combo headphone/microphone jack and is probably wired like this. So unless you have a 4 ring plug it will probably not give you a mike input.

    thanks guys

it doesnt work on my chromebook

    again only says internal mic

    padgett

if i get a 4 ring connector, will it work

can you buy these 4 ring connectors and what are they called?

Could try here, then you can experiment.

I do not have an S7, just the diagram works with my cell phones.

  • Hi padgett,

This microphone already have 3 black rings or 4 contact rings and 24k gold plated plug.

    Hi iggs_1,

As you wrote, you "work" under Windows 10.

    1. Is it the original OS or an upgrade?
    2. If it's an upgrade, did you download and update all drivers?

    hi Laurent,

I updated the sound cards but to no avail

    What are our options?

What do you think of USB sound cards?

  • Hi iggs_1,

Sorry for the delay. May be you misunderstood my previous message.

    Did you buy your laptop:

    1. with Windows 10 ?
    2. with Windows 8/8.1 and upgraded to Windows 10 (Get Windows 10) ?
If this case, it's necessary to upgrade all of the drivers. First the chipset driver and the others in any order.

  • Hi iggs_1,

Your laptop is equipped with an Intel I5-4200U so Haswell familly and not Broadwell familly. You have to install the second chipset driver stated in your list.
