Question for the new 2021 models (or maybe 2020 too)Are the fans finally IDLE during IDLE in windows? I had to sell my 2019 model because the fans were always spinning and there was no way to make them idle, even if the whole laptop was actually cool.

I returned my Helios 300. Sad but that's what I had to do.I really liked everything about it but I can't enjoy it with the fans constantly audible.
-
That's interesting because it is the same on my 15" model. Maybe they changed predator sense to not work below 2000-2500rpm anymore. This would be bad since there is really no single reason for the fans being on that high minimum all the time.

We have the "Idead" thread there if anyone wants to join the support:https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/574336/helios-300-fan-stopping#latest

I support this idea. The fans don't even need to stop completely. But I would like to have a more silent laptop when I do not game. Fan speeds never go below ~2500rpm.

Nice. On my Helios 300 I have one bleeding spot on the top near the webcam so I might give this a shot as well. Hopefully I don't ruin the casing...

There should be a fail safe of course. It doesn't make sense to let the GPU overheat - just like it does not make sense to have 2500rpm when the GPU is in idle. Maybe part of the problem is that the cooling solution is one solid unit - but still - let the GPU fan turn down more if it's in idle.
-
Not sure the fans should stop. But they should atat least go lower if the laptop is cooled down or isn't under heavy load. A slight update to the thread title would be nice as well since it makes it sound like that the fans ARE stopping when they should not. But hopefully people read the comments too.

So how can we make them recognize this problem?
-
Well then Acer should probably do something similar with the Helios 300 as well. With this there is no reason not to, it does not even has to go completely off if they fear hardware failure.Did someone try older bios revisions?
-
I think this is just a display error as the fans then shortly after display at their corresponding speeds. It was set to MAX as well.
-
The GPU fans? Then this seems to be a bug or hardware limitation. If the thinner laptop can go 0rpm then the Helios should be able to as well. Can we forward this to acer themselves somehow?
-
Is like a quick update as well as I really like this laptop despite the fan issue. I could still give it back.

This is getting annoying. Even completely cooled down both fans are at 2500rpm and really audible. This has to be a big of some kind
-
I think stopping would be a bit much, but lower than 2600rpm or something. I am sitting in front of my laptop and the fans are still very loud - but all I am doing is just surfing the internet. System temp is at 37° so very cool actually.

Hello. I have the same question about that. Even if the laptop is fully cooled down (plugged or unplugged) the fans are still on at around 2500rpm and you can hear them. I would like to have them lower or even off when in "desktop idle"
