  • Repasting is amazing. I used Thermal Grizzly itself and got it repasted at the official Acer service center for 500 Rupees. Amazing effects. Drop of about 30 Degrees. I get 40 C on Idle and around 65 on Max Load. Get Your Laptop repasted even if it's brand-new. Will definitely make it better
Good stuff bro. Just keep in mind that Kryonaut is enthusiasts paste and is mainly for high performance benching therefore wasn't built for longevity. It even posts on Grizzlys website it dries up quickly at 85 C +.

I know your temps are lower so you can expect it to last probably a couple years at 65 C.

What Thermal paste do you recommend?, and can I make my Predator PH315-52 less noise, it's annoying even on idle, right now I'm getting 42 C on idle and about 1980RPM for the cpu and 2520RPM for the gpu.

YellowLemon kryonaut and if you want less noise you have to replace your aeroblade fans to plastic delta (Will void your warranty even if you dont have seals and you have to send it back for some reason)  that is the only way the H300 2019 fan curve rpm will only go down/switch off fans under 37/39 which you will never achieve in any conventional way you cant change the curve acer designed it to work this way the only solution if you dont like the noise (doesnt bother me at all any noise on any gaming laptop as they were designed to be noisy) you only have 2 options as i already said either replace the aeroblade fans for delta or get another laptop from another model for ex the T500 its quiet

Those video on YouTube shows how to hack PredatorSense and replace its xtu profiles with your own, that works fine
But in Helios 2019 applying Extreme profile increase also gpu tdp from 80 to 90 but I don’t want increase fans speed by +1000 rpm
Any idea how to hack it and set 90w tdp on all profiles - normal, fast, extreme?

You prob cant i suspect they were all modified in the 2019 so the hack doesnt work as intended you would be better asking @Red-Sand about it either here on on the fb predator group

At what temperature does the Acer Helios 300 start to throttle?
  • xapim
    xapim ACE Posts: 7,253 Pathfinder
Pb101 anything up to 85'ish on cpu and 70/75 on dgpu its fine over that consider optimising windows properly/undervolting with TS check here and if still needed repasting with kryonaut or similar usually thermal throttling on intel mobile cpus starts at 90's some even before its the silicone lottery you will notice when this happens you will loose all performance :)

Question for the new 2021 models (or maybe 2020 too)
Are the fans finally IDLE during IDLE in windows? I had to sell my 2019 model because the fans were always spinning and there was no way to make them idle, even if the whole laptop was actually cool.

Hello everybody, I have a question concerning my Acer Predator Helios 300, 2018 model. So like most of you, I have been experiencing overheating temperatures of around 90-98 degrees Celsius while gaming from my CPU. I have tried many methods like lowering my Turbo Boost settings or using an edit power plan to take power from 100-99. The only one that has worked for me is lowering my Turbo boost settings, but I was told that it is bad for gaming and could hurt my overall experience. I have also been told that these temperatures are fine and that the laptop can handle them, but in contrast, have heard the exact opposite and that these temperatures could damage my CPU. So I just have one question, should I lower my Turbo Boost power, try some different method (one you could suggest), or just simply leave the laptop alone? Answering my question will help my stress over the situation decrease and allow me to enjoy my laptop to the fullest degree.

    Thanks!

@CharlieAwesome7 you should repaste it properly with kryonaut or similar (since your out of warranty for a long time now) also clean the fans and exit airflow optimize windows and undervolt disabling the turbo boost its not an option (in my view its the dumbest solution invented so far by ppl that dont even understand what it does) theres no point in buying a gaming laptop to cut its performance in half for that purpose better just get a normal one  good luck :)

Excali do not try to overclock you internal display in any circumstances you will decrease its life span for a lot or maybe damage it permanently also your display will only show the supported modes on nvcp thats not overclocking and u can use any of them as long as its listed and this forum section its predator laptops only :)
