Intel XTU has a bad habit of resetting and not applying the undervolt, operating temperatures rise. Personally I use ThrottleStop and automate it with Task Scheduler. Settings are fine as your reducing the nominal value not increasing it, limiting the CPU's performance with resultant lower operating temperature. TLDR: Good…

Sorry that's inaccurate Predator 17 G9-793 have Dust defender implemented, recent updates have removed the Dust defender shortcut from the Start Menu, with access being limited directly to Acer Quick Access. Dust Defender may not be implemented in all models as I suspect it's more than a software solution. Acer Reps…

At this point you need start speaking with Acer or Seagate as the FireCuda SSHD drives can and do work very well as secondary logical drives in the system. So something is amiss, to have two drives have the same issue is concerning. For the most part the drive should be just plug & play. I looked at my Asus S7BS8750…

DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor or USB C/TB-3 to HDMI adaptor should work Q-6

Try looking for the drive in Disk Management. Then format it from Disk Management, I know that some systems have problems recognising these SSHD drives. There's also Seagate Disk Wizard which may be better to set up the drive, download and set up the drive as GPT. To access Disk Management, type 'Disk Management' into the…

What was the speed and what is the level of defragmentation of the drive? Also give the drive some time to settle and learn your common usage. There's a significant number of variables; speed of the SSD, firmware, type of files, level of HDD defragmentation, percentage of free space etc. If the drive is passing Seagate's…

There may very well be no problem. You need to test the drive with Seagate's own software from DOS, then if any issue discovered speak with Seagate support. Right now your using 3rd party software which may or may not be reading the SMART data from the drive correctly. Why do you think the drive is slow? Try copying a…
-
Personally I'd test the drive with Seagate's own software not a third party application, as the interpretation of the SMART data can vary, plus the Firecuda drives also have 8Gb of NAND Flash for acceleration which may confuse the matter. Nor is it unusual for a HDD to reallocate some sectors with values not always being…

Potentially, much depends on the terms and conditions. If your concerned just live with the temperature as long as throttling is not present or excessive. Acer can repaste the CPU/GPU under warranty and it can come back the same, better or worse, as they will use the same thermal compound. Personally if my Predator 17's…

Ask Acer for a "new" replacement or refund, be polite, remain firm bottom line is, Acer's product failed you. If I'm paying top dollar for the product, I most certainly do not expect a refurbished/reworked replacement, I expect exactly what's on the "label" no more, no less... If purchased on credit card, and your not…

Blue pixels/Ines concern as it may be related to the GPU, especially as it's now a clean install, equally one would expect the computer to restart after a full shutdown, not instantly freeze at the boot screen. BIOS 1.13 shouldn't present any issue, with latest version of W10, you may have to consider a hardware issue is…

My Predator 17 is a different SKU with a single 256 SSD, you'll likely need to spend some time reading the threads how to make/break the RAID array to make sense of it. Same as @JackE I'd be inclined to break the RAID array, install a faster NVMe M.2 in slot one and a SATA M.2 on slot two as a backup drive. To me RAID is a…

Acer will replace the same paste as that's the process their techs/representatives must follow. Better to take it to a competent local shop with the thermal paste you want to be applied. 30% is a nice reduction, allows you to stick to your original plan, although the new 8th Gen hex core CPU's are more performant the quad…

@JackE OP's wife has an identical notebook so he can test his SSD's which boot to W10 Desktop without issue, his wife's notebook and her known good SSD's in his own system exhibit the same failure to boot. Which makes me think something is awry below the OS, BIOS. Agree hardware failure is possible, equally doesn't appear…

Windows Update/System Restore is broken or DISM is not able to connect to the service. You may have to restore from an ISO which documented in the link below. Did SFC throw up any errors? https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-dism-command-line-utility-repair-windows-10-image If possible run the Acer Recovery Management…

I would speak with Acer as this where the battery is located, if the temperature feels excessive. Was the notebook charging? then one would expect it to a little warmer, however not hot. My own Predator 17 is a little warm in the same area, very marginally though. Q-6
-
Should do, but personally never had reason to. SFC doesn't require a connection DISM does, however you can also use DISM the Microsoft W10 ISO, however more complex. I had corrupted system image files on my other 17" DISM resolved all online. Q-6
-
Agreed it's a risk, equally the issue lies below Windows as the SSD's boot in a different notebook. Other than this I'm out of suggestions. Q-6
-
You can verify Windows as follows: Check for corrupt system files by opening the Command Prompt (under Administrator) type sfc /scannow This will search and fix some errors if uncorrectable the system will advise. The Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool can repair deeper issues, however you will need a…

Try running the downloaded BIOS_114.exe file from FreeDos not the extracted *.FD files, first be 100% is the correct file for your notebook, wrong BIOS may brick the notebook. Q-6
