Some Acer TravelMate models ship with Acer User Sensing Software. This software enables the built-in proximity sensor located beside the webcam to allow you to quickly login as you approach your computer, or lock it when you leave. You can also set break reminders and screen distance reminders to protect your eyes.
Note: Acer User Sensing Software is not available on all models. If Acer User Sensing software was not preinstalled on your computer from the factory, your model will not support this feature.
How to start Acer User Sensing software
- Click the Start ⊞ button, then select All apps
- Click the Acer User Sensing on the Apps screen or select the Acer User Sensing icon from the taskbar if it is available.
Note: Acer User Sensing icon on the task bar is available on select countries only.
The Acer User Sensing main screen
The main screen provides the brief feature introduction. You can choose the feature box to manage the settings.
How to Turn on User Sensing and change settings
You can toggle the User Sensing features on or off, and customize the settings to fit your needs.
- Launch the Acer User Sensing software.
- Click on the User Sensing panel.
- Click the toggle to choose your desired settings:
- AutoLock - Dims the display and locks the computer when you leave. Select a time-out value from the drop-down list. This function maximizes security and extends the battery life.
- Wake on Approach - Wakes up the computer from sleep mode upon approach and uses the Windows Hello face authentication to log in automatically without touching your device.
How to set break reminders in Acer User Sensing Software
Break Reminder provides the pop-up notification to remind you to have a break regularly. You can select the regular time to show up the break notification.
- Launch the Acer User Sensing software.
- Click on Break Reminder.
- Click the toggle to turn on break reminder and choose your desired times and settings.
How to set a screen distance reminders
- Launch the Acer User Sensing software.
- Click on Screen Distance Reminder.
- Click the toggle to turn on screen distance reminders and choose your desired settings.
