Settings are in the BIOS. May be Nitrosense has an option to control it .

My BIOS got updated to 1.18 during windows update. Seems the BIOS link on Acer page got updated after I did the update. Haven't noticed any noticeable changes or errors on my Linux

860 evo working fine on my laptop

Ctrl +S is almost used in all OSes as shortcut for save .. What does that do exactly here? Any screenshots available ? Any other notable improvements
-
So what all does the update improve ? Does it improve backlight or Touchpad especially ?
-
It's not clear from the link what is RS6 & battery table .And if the changes fix something or can break something .@egydiocoelho Do you have more info. Seeing that recent bios update of An515-52 has broken many users systems , this is a nervous looking update

That should work .. If you want better speeds look at samsung or Crucial .FYI NVME / PCIE drives will not work .

Its around 540Mb/s read . Write speeds were close to read speeds when it was new ..strangely after some WIndows update or some thing else It is now around 470 Mb/s peak .

Here goes my idea https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/568737/acer-nitro-an515-42-keyboard-backlight-time-out-setting#latest .Looks like some folks have already asked for some thing on the lines..more the merrier

Its silly to not see this option enabled after using official AMD driver . You could try posting this in the AMD forums .
-
Not sure if disabling fast boot or one of the latest Win/Radeon updates fixed this .. Am seeing less of this problem these days

What are your grub flags?

Was it replaced under warranty or did you pay ?( which country ) ? If under warranty then they might have put in the cheapest panel available. IPS has better viewing angles ( color doenst go dull when seeing from angle ) . Some TN panels have better blacks .

Good update by ACER 👍👍 . Hope there was a software option to control KB lighting timeout in ACER Quick Access Application without going to BIOS . It should be doable. Wonder what these changes in the BIOS do ? * Update SMU to v30.80 * Add SCCM solution

How did you break the key ? Is the keyboard weak ?

Add an SSD and 8 GB RAM and it will fly

YOu can download latest Adrenaline drivers directly from AMD here https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-5-mobile-processors-radeon-vega-graphics/amd-ryzen-5

AMD should be providing drivers for mobile devices in Q1 , as per their press announcement . Keep an eye open . Meanwhile I don't understand why Acer cant release an update with the 2019 drivers .

What is the RAM model that came with your laptop ? If its Hynix , then get the kingston value RAM with exact RAM timings . Refer above posts

The error points to missing entries in the IVRS table in the bios which Linux is expecting while looking for ACPI . The acer bios seems to work only with windows ,so we are seeing this error . The grub parameters are a work around for that , which disables acpi on the PCI bus , which implies non-optimal power management .
