I have a G5-793 and it has 3 zones fixed to red and 1 zone fixed to blue. I can only turn them on or off. That is one of the things that differs the G5 from the G9.

As far as I know, the G5-793 doesn't have a rgb-keyboard. Only the fixed red/blue.

I have an AN515-51 with bios v1.13 and it also turns off sometimes. Interesting is that I got my computer replaced but cloned the harddrive and both computers does the exact same poweroff, indicating that this is not a single computer hardware flaw.

Acer did not ask any questions when I said that they installed the wrong panel in my G5-793. I noticed because G-Sync was gone after the first repair. They said that they had done something wrong and that they should replace the panel with the correct one. In the end I got a completely new computer.

I had to wait 5 weeks. In Sweden there are consumer-laws that states how long it is resonable to wait for a repair. For electronics, it's 2 weeks.

Acer in Sweden should be easy to reach by phone, but they will send your computer to Germany if needed.

My first G5-793 didn't initially have g-sync. Then came bios 1.08 that enabled g-sync. Then I had to send the computer to Acer for a repair and got it back with a TN-panel without g-sync. I complained and got a new G5-793 with g-sync. It is hard to know exactly what you get even if you read the specification.

My G5-793 has g-sync on the internal display.

In "Region and Language" there is a button to copy the settings to the welcome screen.

I don't know if it's possible or not for the factory to check for this obvious flaw, but now it's the customer that within seconds makes the quality control.

I'm amazed that the problems with IPS bleeding is handled like some sort of lottery for the customers. Screens with too much IPS bleeding should not leave the factory. My first Predator was bad, but my second is more or less as perfect a IPS can be.

Acer did not ask me to do anything when I said that they had installed a TN-panel. They took it back immediately and then I had to wait 4 weeks while they waited for spare parts. I finally got a completely new computer.

I had the exact same situation with my G5-793. When I sent the computer to Acer, it had a 75MHz IPS G-Sync-enabled panel. When I got it back, they had installed a 60MHz TN-panel without G-Sync. I complained and got it replaced with a new computer.

My G5-793 had a 75Hz IPS panel without G-Sync (disabled in BIOS by Acer) A BIOS upgrade enabled G-Sync. I had some issues with the computer and sent it to Acer for repair. When I got it back, they had installed a 60Hz TN panel without G-Sync. I refused to accept it and got a replacement computer with a 75Hz IPS with…

IPS bleeding is interesting and it has a technical explanation. My first G5-793 had lots of bleeading and I was disappointed. I got it replaced with another G5-793 and it (almost) does not bleed at all. The same product but with very different appearance. Why should we as customers accept this random quality when we pay…

I have a G5-793 and it is definitely missing the logo-light, stripes-light, lights around the mousepad, subwoofer, frostcore and rgb-keyboard. The G5-793 is a cost/feature-reduced version of G9-793. That's why it is cheaper.
-
As far as I know, the G5-793 does not have any lights in the logo or the red stripes. The G5-793 is missing some of the features of its big brother G9-793.

I have a G5-793. I had a hard time getting Acer in Sweden to understand that I was missing the HDD caddy and the connection cable. They wanted me to find a reseller and buy it from them. I had to send the computer to Germany to fix a problem and I asked them if they could help me. They sent the Hdd caddy and the connection…

The reseller has agreed to replace my computer and I will receive a new one. The old one has been at the repair shop for almost 6 weeks since january. Thanks for the feedback Daedronus.

It's now been 3 weeks and I'm still waiting for my G5-793. The disturbing thing is that they say that it's because they can't get the correct panel for this brand new computer. Does this mean that everyone with a G5-793 or G9-793 will get an old TN-panel if they send it to an Acer repair shop and don't detect the switch or…
