Question: What was your OS? Did you completely formatted your HDD or the recovery partition only? Can you boot into windows normally if your C drive is ok? If yours was windows 8.1 or 8 I might have some ideas.

Run the W10 setup and upgrade to W10 first from within your activated present OS just to retain your activation status. check if your W10 is activated before you atempt a clean install from boot.

Check if your windows 7 is activated. Ensure your win 10 ISO is the exact counter version of your Win 7 ( win10 home = win 7 home/win 10 single language=win 7 single language etc) with correct architecture (32 or 64 bits). Hi Iron Fly, Its me again I have taken a different approach. reinstalled windows 8.1 by usb media just to get the option "copy the recovery partition from pc to the recovery drive" Did the xml edit and reagent disable/enable but the option still greyed out. any sugestion?

I do have that in mind...i read somwhere to create installation media and replace the install.wim with my OEM install.wim. however i am having trouble downloading the installation media since I am behind a proxy.

I did exactly what you said. it did get into some reset options(but it was not acer e recovery) It did not give me any factory restore option but it gave me a choice of reset this pc....which I did and after the operation completed the PC is again back with a fresh install of windows 10. any advice??
