Just called, doesn’t affect warranty. You have to willfully damage the device to void the warranty according to the person I talked to. Freesync is aswesome
-
What he said officially they told me that as long as the damage wasn’t done by installation and the components it’s fine the ssd up to 2TB, BUT just to be safe I would do as ven98 suggests so they can’t blame things that aren’t the problem which they do even on the phone for adding ram, just don’t tell them. You are…

Just call them to register, that’s what I did.

You need a Sata 3 m.2, MVNe is not compatible, I asked, either return the ssd and get a sata 3 m.2 up to 2TB (Acer told me that on phone) or keep the nvme use an external iCan adaptor and get an up to 2TB m.2 SATA 3 ssd. edit: I see you bought it today, return it to the shop and get a Sata 3 m.2 ssd as NVMe is not…

his bios is 1.10 so have to change from factory. the cTDP of 1.09 is 18w according to acer costumer "support
-
@JackE I called Acer Nitro support and asked them what the cTDP was for the -42 (ryzen 5) and after a while and going talking to the manager they said they could tell me, its configured at cTDP 18W. even plugged in it won't do over the configured watts. a shame really since the cpu stays quite cool and is boosting to…
-
im not worried about thermals from an extra 7 watts as the cpu is usually on the 40c range, that's why I got an amd, they run a bit cooler. anyone know how can I change the cTDP. I know its not the plugged in, that can be reproduced putting the processor at 100% but having it at 18w... the laptop could be much better at…

easy fix: search: "power plan" select on edit power plan select advanced options select switchable dynamic graphichs change to maximize performance. that FORCES the RX560X to work on even youtube and Netflix, you should be able to hit 50-60 FPS on high settings and then its 35-25fps on ultra or something like that, if the…

yes, just make sure its SATA 3 m.2 like that one and up to 2TB. not sure what the ss after 2280 are tho
-
this sounds like horrible "costumer service" they know that it broke because of the system fault and don't want to cover it. pretty shady, than again their custumer serice is 2/5? their laptops might have gotten better but the service is still horrible, and if it happens after 90 days they make you pay shipping... you…

power plan-> advanced power options -> switchable dynamic graphics-> maximize performance. if you don't do this you are gaming on the vega 8. running the userbenchmark test shows you where the problem is. if the test registers the vega 8 follow the steps I said and it will force the rx560x to be used over the vega8 (which…

@B4ttleSky in the search bar type "power plan" click on edit power plan or on choose power setttings, it comes only with balanced and high performance, click on create new power plan and choose the default power saver, you can take it a step further by going into advanced settings and tinkering with it, also make sure the…

disable the GPU or make sure to have eco mode on if you will use the rx560x, which power plan are you using? that's not normal, on high performance and using the GPU I get 2 hours 40 minutes.
-
sadly its normal for intel chips to be quite hot since they don't use a thermal compound in the chip, and the thermal paste used by acer is meh, so I would return it until I get one that does not heat up that bad, or just change brands altogether, to be quite frank, if any other brand had Ryzen with dedicated graphics, I…
-
that's because its an NVMe, the amd ryzen nitro only supports m.2 sata, look for a sata 3 m.2, according to Acer up to 2TB are supported, they haven't tested with larger capacities. BUT it has to be a sata m.2 not an NMVe as it wont be compatible
-
and there is NOTHING "elite" about that number, they will tell you to ship it to their repair centers... while walking you through briking your OS so you HAVE to send it, they will NOT exchange it for a new one, you have to go to the store you bought it from for that.
-
intel no longer uses thermal solutions on their chips.. 95c is what they want them to run at... if you want cooler option, the RX560X benchmarchs at 30.5%, ryzen 5 depends on the chip some 50% some 70%, you could return the intel option and get the AMD option, I can run the acer AH-101 on them without a hiccup. also the…

make sure you go to device manager and set graphics to maximum performance both on cell and on the plug, otherwise, its sounds like the hd620 is being used, also adding 8gb more ram or at least to 12gb (8+4) should help. if you're on 1809 then that option could had been deleted then you have to roll back to 1803 and wait…
-
yeah, when you are gaming turn the fans to max performance its 5.1K rpm or 5.7k rmp depending on the bios, it really helps to keep things cool so that neither the gpu or cpu throttle. But for every day use just turn on coolboost and set it for balanced, its just in gaming and VR that you will want to max it out.
-
did you check device monitor? that cpu runs very hot, run notrosense at max speed and see if that helps with the throttling, you can blame it on intel for removing thermal solutions from their cpus so in turn they all overheat fast. also run userbenchmark and see that your HDD is running at a usual speed otherwise that…
