  • If you have access to a USB-C to VGA or HDMI cable you can try hooking the computer up to an external monitor. That will tell you if the tablet is working (which is sounds like it is).
  • Despite having the 1709 "Feature Update" blocked on my W700, Windows Home installation has now downloaded it anyway and is prompting me to schedule a restart so it can install and wreck the tablet again. So I now have to be very careful that I don't accidentally hit "Update and Restart" or "Update and Shutdown" and I still…
  • The GumDrop case referenced in the post above is the only case specifically made for the SA12.
  • For anyone else who might experience this ... I was able to fix the crash by following the driver re-installation process documented by keynerajs93 in this thread: http://community.acer.com/t5/Switch-Series/Switch-Alpha-12-Camera-problem/td-p/470637 Thanks!
  • I also re-installed the drivers (Intel and RealTek) from the Acer site and the problem still exists.
  • No advice, but for FWIW when I try to enable my rear-facing camera throug the Windows Store Camera app flat Windows crashes. The forward-facing camera works fine. I don't think it's an Acer problem but a Windows problem. Not sure how to deal with it.
  • I work with multiple SA12s (i3 and i5s and my own personal i7) and none of them make the noise you describe.
  • Here's another disassembly video from an old post here on the forums: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WkDrJq5cc8 Not much detail in the video but it's better than nothing. I looked up a replacement W700 battery online and it shows a 10-wire connector -- so based on that I would assume it's not soldered. Here is an old post…
  • I've had my SA12 for over a year and the cord wiggles around in the power port quite a bit when fully inserted. My SA12 is my primary machine and I use it extensively. I have plugged and unplugged the power cord hundreds of times over the last 13 months and still works and charges without issue - despite the play in the…
  • Can those of you who sent your SA12 in for repair for this specific issue please comment on whether or not the problem has returned or not? In other words, did the fix work. My BIOS and keyboard firmware are all up to date. My keyboard has recently started disconnecting and stops working entirely at randomly times…
  • @robertkjr3d - thanks for the reply. The first warnings I got after reverting to 1607 were definitely about upgrading to Creators - just as I had recevied before upgrading to Creators the first time. Once I blew those off those messages several times, the wording changed to indiate that I had to review my privacy settings…
  • Have you tried calbrating the battery? I believe the process is: * Fully carge the battery * Hold in the reset button on the left side * Recharge the tablet without using it. Plug it in, but don't turn it on. Once it's fully charged, boot up and see if your battery life is better. My W700 started giving me kess than 2…
  • FWIW - I gave in and re-installed Windows 1607. This immediately fixed all of the W700 driver issues with brightness, rotation, etc that Creators caused. The only problem now is I keep getting the annoying warnings to review my privacy settings because the OS wants to re-ipgrade to Creators. There doesn't appear to be a…
  • Same here. Creators updated broke the video and other platform-related drivers on my W700 -- which is unfortunate. I keep hoping Intel will release drivers that will fix things but so far nothing. I am unable to automatically revert to the pre-Creators update because of Microsoft's silly 10 day time limit. Re-installing is…
  • Haven't done it yet but will download them today. I honestly think my trackpad is just defective. My wife has an Alpha as well and there is no problem typing on her keyboard. I hate to send me whole unit in just for the cover but that seems to be what Acer wants me to do.
  • I have separate HDMI and VGA USB-C adapters from Kanex and both of them work perfectly. I use the HDMI extensively as the main connection to my home monitor. The VGA is used primarily to connect to projectors at my office for presentations. I've never had a drop problem with the connection. The only thing I do notice when…
  • I wouldn't think so. THis is a brand new product just release this year and is still being promoted on the Acer site. At least in the US.
  • I use my Alpha (i7) for long strethes and have not had any lock up or thremal issues like you describe. Do you ahve a runaway process in Windows that is maxing the CPU continually? I read a review on the Alpha where they purposefully maxed the CPU continually for a long stretch to see how much heat they could generate. In…
  • Thanks. I will give the Synaptics driver a shot to see if anything changes.
  • Acer-Karp wrote:Have you tried any troubleshoot? if so please let us know so we can best assist you. Not sure what to troubleshoot. There are no adjusments in Windows for trackpad sensitivity. I have loaded the latest keyboard firmare from the Acer support site. I've tried tapping and doing some other weird stuff to try…
