Hi again Jackie! Well, I was a bit frustrated, but now that I am a bit more calm: First, I wish to you and the guys a super Merry Christmas! All the good things for you! About this matter, I tried a 65 watt charger months before, but had the same rebooting issues. what remains to be changed is the battery, and probably…

Well... after a month from the 30th of October, and after having changed the sound drivers, this thing rebooted again...I'm out of ideas, I just tried everything, everything. I don't really know if I should bother anymore with it... Thanks a bunch, really, you have been really supportive, much more than Acer ever was.…

Sorry for the late answer, I just did that today, let's see if that does the trick ^_^ I think I will leave that one as my really last option... I had that installed and was worse for some reason... :/ Thanks a bunch again! I will report any results.

Just because it was quick, I reverted the sound driver to the one the Acer site offers... Let's hope that makes the trick, but at this point, I have no hope on that :/ Wish me luck... Thanks for all your assistance!

@JackE @Red-Sand Ahhhh well... 2 days after the reboot I got another... I applied more spacers to the safety button and such...I don't know if I should continue and test with changing the drivers... as this happened with other versions as far as I can tell and my memory doesn't betray me... I don't know if the Acer site…

Ah, also forgot to ask... did you have the same event errors as me with that wrong driver? What symptoms you had? Just to be sure. Cya!

Just done that, let's see if that does the trick... Thanks! ^_^ I'm currently using the ones from Realtek site (R281) are those good or I still better install the ones from Acer? Thanks a bunch!!

@JackE Week 3... today I had a reboot... Same WHEA Error and all... I've been working with Defender all the time, so that rules out the AV software. While I can finally buy the batt and the charger, I just have one option to test now... the sound driver, as @Red-Sand says... now, what to do? I currently use the R281 diver…

Week 2... no reboots so far, keep you fingers crossed...
-
I can't say is trully solved... I will report every week if I had a reboot or not, at least I expect this to be stable for a month or more... because this thing happened to be very random, and very sporadic (like, having a reboot once and then never until a month or two, and then a week later...) I seek for a new power…

You mention realtek, I assume you talk about the sound drivers? You had that problem? How did you solve that specifically? (In case I need to dig into the sound drivers)
-
Well... one week since last reboot, all seems in order. I will be seeking to buy the battery and the new charger, and report next week. Cya!

Thanks for the answer!! Yup, I uninstalled Avast completely, right now I'm using defender, by now things seem normal, yesterday I was working with both my design software and a virtual machine at the same time, up to this moment, I haven't had a single reboot, I will keep you updated every week to see how this evolves...…

Small question... anyone is able to tell how much does it cost a replacement motherboard for this laptop? I tried to call even to Acer in Mexico, but they are being... mysterious with the information (They can't tell me? O_O)... I need to make myself an idea, just in case, not that I'm buying now but... Thanks in advance…
-
Just as a small heads up... I'm trying something hard after years of using Avast as a protection: I uninstalled the thing and left Defender only... Cross your fingers... (It's unbelievable that Avast can cause such problems, but looking at all those threads on Internet saying that Avast is no more what it used to be...) If…

I will see with the retailer, worths a try ^^ I'll keep you informed Thank you so much for all the help :D

Well... this was quick, bad news people, I got a reboot just today while testing a linux Virtual Machine... I made the fix for the interlock button, but no avail, I was even in my desktop, no way of moving anything or so... I opened the whole thing again, I even cleaned and changed the thermal compound (using the…

Hey @egydiocoelho This is the photo @JackE posted, it's basically the same as I have, just the protrusion looks slightly thicker in his Photo, but this works exactly the same. What I did is, as he said, doing an extra space, over the protrusion, and pasted it, so it presses deeper into the switch and it doesn't make a…

Ahhh I see. Yes, in fact I saw what you mean, as soon as I removed the cover for the RAM and HDD, the switch was free, I tried booting up the PC, but is unable to, because that switch cuts all power. So, that means that's the button. Supposedly, it seemed to be pressed enough, but to be sure, I made a small pad extension…

Thanks so much for the answer, Jack! I have a little doubt here, seems I have two buttons in this laptop, one is the one that "cuts" energy to the battery so you can safely remove it, and the other is a "BIOS" switch, which is only accessible when you remove the RAM/HDD plate (it's circled in one of the pictures you posted…
