  • I downloaded and posted the results too. The SSD I added was the same, a 128GB m.2 ssd (crucial I think). I guess my main point was noticing how it started off quick then slowed down. I assumed something was wrong.
  • Thanks for the reply. So you're saying 40mb/s is typical for the HD that comes with the laptop? I was thinking it should be much faster, especially since the transfer speed is 10x faster in the first part of the transfer and then everything instantly slows down. HD SSD
  • I tried the troubleshooter but it didn't find any problems. I'll have to wait for the audio problem to start again and try running the troubleshooter when it's happening. You said there was a driver to try, but your post didn't link to one?
  • You should be able to turn Dolby on and off from it's pop up Blue menu. If the sound changes dramatically from on/off then it's working. Open up the settings for the dolby and turn on some of the additional features like the following. This is how mine looks.
  • I noticed it's the "audiodg.exe" program that is acting weird with high cpu usage. Some tutorials say to disable 'audio enhancements' but I can't find that option available in windows 10. In device manager, I notice 2 separate audio drivers. The Acer download page only has 1 realtek audio driver. I'm wondering if there is…
  • I don't have a problem with wifi signal strength. I'm only around 10 feet from the router. Additionally, I don't use High Performance power setting. Not really sure what's going on.
  • Thanks for posting. Mine is setup like that now. I notice yours says 'needs optimization.' What do you think will happen if you click 'optimize' on your C: drive.
  • Gotcha, I'll turn it back on for all drives. Do you have yours on a weekly schedule?
  • I heard that you don't want to defrag a ssd. Isn't that what optimize does?
  • Ya I took a look at those prior to the thread and am still confused. What I can't tell is that if I have optimize schedule turned off, will automatic maintenance override that?
  • If the installation is failing, then it's most likely a corrupt USB drive. You also said you were getting a blue screen with an error code telling you to repair your system. I had the same thing. Don't do what I did and send your laptop in for warranty support. I would use the USB drive and go make a new recovery on the…
  • @sraviva Your USB recovery media is corrupt like mine was. Did you put other files on that USB drive after you created the recovery part of it? You should go to that link I posted and create a new USB recovery drive at the microsoft site. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media
  • I'm not sure Windows activates automatically like the Acer Recovery does. Someone mentioned that you need to find the Microsoft License Key that's built into the laptop. I'm not sure how you find it, possibly a program can tell you or it's in the bios? The new windows installation from Microsoft may need the license key…
  • I believe they'll allow you to download a windows 8.1 recovery on your USB. It just won't be activated. You should be able to use the Windows License Key that's built into the laptop to activate that Microsoft copy. I believe that the following link would work and do just that.…
  • I had an issue recently as well. My USB recovery drive was corrupted. I tried re-installing windows 8.1 off the USB and it would fail the installation near 80%. I think I saved or added another file to the USB drive for storage and that's what corrupted the drive. I wasn't aware you couldn't save more files on the flash…
  • I didn't know that. I sent it in for repair today.
  • I tried putting the ISO on the same USB as the recovery media and the system wasn't able to find the image after booting up. I tried connecting a second USB flash with only the ISO on it at the same time as the USB recovery and it wasn't able to find it. Am I doing this correct? Boot to the USB Recovery, select…
  • I have that laptop. You have the 1TB HDD and you have another empty slot for a m.2 ssd. You need to buy the 2280 (80mm) form factor. You could buy a normal 2.5"? SSD to replace the HDD though. Make sure it's a Sata III ssd, not pci.…
  • I'll give that a shot and report back. Does the ISO have to be put on the same Flash drive as the recovery?
  • Thanks, but I'm having a problem with my computer and both refresh/reset fail at around 70%. Startup repair doesn't work either.
