  • Good luck on getting that tracking #. Last time my tablet was repaired I received the same e-mail, unit is repaired and tracking # would follow after unit was shipped. Never got a tracking # but the tablet arrived a few days later.
  • You are correct, rainyday. I was looking at the driver packages. I’m running BIOS 1.93 on my W510 and don’t plan to change. Acer is appalling when it comes to update narrative. Other companies give you reasons for the updates (what the problems were or what the update changes).
  • Where did you get BIOS 2.0? All I see is BIOS 2.12 (for windows 8) and 3.00 (for windows 8.1)
  • I use the desktop for power. I shut down the desktop, open it up and unplug the DVD SATA connector from the motherboard (or use a separate SATA cable plugged into the DVD player) and plug it into the USB adapter then restart the desk top computer. In the past I’ve also used the IDE portion of the adapter.
  • Yes that is the same as the one I use.
  • Verify the BIOS settings are correct. This time entering the BIOS should require your supervisor password, if it doesn’t then try resetting it per step 6. Now on the BOOT page verify the “Secure Boot’ is [Disabled] then on the MAIN page verify the “F12 Boot Menu” is [Enabled]. Before you do all this does your W510 even see…
  • If you have a DVD unit on your desktop you don’t need to buy a USB DVD player. Get a IDE/SATA to USB 2.0 Cable Adapter, these can be found on Ebay for under $5 US. I’ve had one for over 6 years and used it on both my ASUS netbook and Acer W510. You need two USB units (DVD player and USB mouse) to install an ISO version of…
  • I was dealing with Acer Technical Support through their web sight http://support.acer.com/. After numerous e-mails back and forth it was determined my unit had to be sent to them for repair. At the time I was residing in Arizona and was given the flowing address. Acer repair center, 10986 N.W.(North West) H. K. Dodgen Loop…
  • System recovery will erase all the data in the tablet. Please backup the data before following the steps. On the Iconia Tab W510 models with 32 GB internal storage you need to use the supplied Recovery DVDs to re-install Windows 8. You will need the following items to follow the below steps: · External USB DVD drive with…
  • Use the Acer Recovery Management program to restore your unit. See the following post. http://community.acer.com/t5/Acer-Tablets/I-WOULD-LIKE-TO-RESTORE-MY-COMPUTER-TO-FACTORY-DEFAULTS/m-p/49317/highlight/true#M5310
  • I had the same problem with my 510W. If you correspond with Acer Support the fist thing they say is try a different TV/monitor or HDMI cable then they’ll have you do a full Factory Restore of you system. None of that worked for me so it was shipped to the repair service center where they replaced the HDMI connector. If you…
  • I had updated the BIOS and drivers on my tablet then made some changes to the wireless driver. One of the changes included unchecking the “Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power”. This was all done hoping I could access the shared folders on my desktop faster. It would take 3 to 4 minutes, after waking up…
  • I had the same problem with the sleep mode. Had to hold down the on/off switch to turn off the tablet then switch it back on. It turn out I had unchecked the “Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power”. To see if this is your problem, follow the steps below. * Go to Control panel * Click on Network and…
  • After installing update driver package 2.06 (I think that was the version) all lockup problems went away. I now have driver package 2.08 (newest version) and still no problems with lockup. Touch pad is still a little squirrelly but I use a wifi mouse when attached to the keyboard so no real problem. I agree with Padgett,…
  • There is a note on the on that page “The DAM is present only on Windows 8 Release Preview client machines that support connected standby”. If I understand that correctly that paper only pertains to Windows 8 Release Preview, which I had on my desktop about one or two months before Windows 8 was released to the general…
  • Well I got my W510 back and set up a new power scheme with the changes I mentioned before, but changing the sleep mode setting to 0x00000000. Than went into the registry and set this as the default scheme. This did not correct the problem. I than went into the registry and manually changed the AC power settings for the…
  • If you have the model that came with a keyboard (W520-1422) use Acer Recovery Management program that came with the tablet. The program has a Restore Factory Settings button. If you have a tablet only model, the following is what I got from Acer Technical Support. System recovery will erase all the data in the tablet.…
  • I’ve tried changing the hard disk sleep and display modes with powcfg commands with no success. Here is the power scheme I tried, which is the same as my desktop W8 computer. Power Scheme GUID: 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e (Balanced) GUID Alias: SCHEME_BALANCED Subgroup GUID: fea3413e-7e05-4911-9a71-700331f1c294…
  • New cable was no help. Acer Technical Support gave me a few things to try including restoring the factory settings. Nothing corrected the problem, so now the unit is on its way to Acer’s repair facility.
  • I'm having the same problem now, no signal. Tried a couple of TV's but still no signal. I was using my W510 with the HID cable connect to the TV for about a week with no problems, so I know it worked. Some time next week I'll buy a new cable and try again hoping it's the cable and not the computer.
