  • I used my old HDD as a external backup drive with all my personal data though I might need a proper enclosure for it at some point. As for windows 8 I should be able to reinstall it on new SSD and it will hopefully activate windows 8 automatically. If things don't go well I'll be sticking to a Linux Distro :)
  • Disassembling the laptop was quite an experience. Unfortunately there's no compartment to access the SSD cache or HDD for easy removal. To remove the mSATA SSD cache I have to remove the motherboard from chassis. There's a pesky screw upper left that holds the Wifi card hidden in a film which I almost broke ;) Masking…
  • I get an error unfortunately, I forgot the error info though as I have already removed and replaced the SSD cache and HDD with a brand new SSD.
  • 2 disk, Disk 0 and Disk 1. Disk 0 has 3 partitions and Disk 1 has none. I went ahead and bought a SSD to replace both the SSD cache and hard drive. I'm lead to believe it is not possible to use the mSATA SSD cache as storage disk without modifying deeper settings of the BIOS that are not available to almost all users...…
  • also ive notice cleaning the SSD disk in diskpart makes it disappear afterward...
  • yes I've even reinstalled windows and it still shows as blank. I used Diskpart command and it appears that it is indeed detected but shows as 0 space. Cleaning it, formatting it, etc doesn't seem to do anything.
  • no, just blank.
  • yes it is shown as disk 1 but it says not initialized/ unknown.
  • I'd also would like to install an OS and boot from it. But it's not being detected in BIOS or during Windows setup.
