  • Many thanks for your quick reply. Jake
  • Thank you for the quick response. Not much choice there, though. I wonder why. Jake
  • What a helpful forum; thank you all, for pitching in. Upon trying to update the wifi drivers through StevenGen's posted link, Windows tells me I already have best drivers installed. aphanic's drivers install version is8/8/19--ver: 12.0.0.916, the same as StevenGen's and egydiocoelho's. I seem to be at the bleeding edge,…

  • @egydiocoelho--thank you for weighing in and posting the downloads.. When I tried to install the cab, Win10 warned me that it had already installed the best driver. I couldn't find a way to override that--as a workaround, it points me to Win Update, but you've already given me those files, it's a weird loop.
  • Thanks again for posting. Yes, there is, and that was the first thing I un-ticked. Also in Network Adapter Properties. Since I can actively compare the Atheros and the TP-Link by disabling/enabling each in Device Manager, it does seem to be an Atheros issue rather than my own user error, though you never know...
  • I very much appreciate your fast response and helpful download. Even though I had gone and downloaded the newest drivers from the Acer site, yours were fresher and installed without complaint. Alas, the problem remains. I could not get back into my shared folder, even after logging in (an issue I've had before), but when I…
  • Very much obliged to you for sticking with this. The PC-In icon on the OSD menu matches the one appearing at boot/sleep, so this is indeed the right place. Unfortunately, I have only two options: Display Off and Exit. The rest are grayed-out; I can't seem to make PC-In as the true default and stop its popups. It's as if…
  • It's an Acer Aspire Z24-890-UA91: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Z24-890-UA91-i5-9400T-802-11ac-Wireless/dp/B07R4PQJNM In Device Manager, under Display Adapters, I find "Intel UHD Graphics 630" and its BIOS device name is \_SB.PC10.GFX0 I would agree: it's an icon from the monitor, not Win10, which would account for the…
  • Okay, here are they are and I very much appreciate you following up on this. First one is when PC is going to sleep. The second is when PC is resuming.
  • Thank you for posting and sorry not to get back until now; I have just seen your post. I can't seem to capture the screenshot of the icon (which is a gray-brown icon, squarish, with "PC" in the middle and a thick arrow protruding out of the right side). Just before the machine sleeps, the icon appears again and says…
  • Fantastic. And once more, thank for your follow-up. By switching o a new computer, I move from a 1TB hd to 512GB ssd, forcing me to be pretty judicious about storage. Nice to know I don't have to be so selective. I see Crucial has a selection of ssds and thanks for the part number for the drive cage, if needed.
  • Thank you for your quick response. In Device Manager, under Disk Drives, the ssd is labeled: WDC PC SN520 SDAPNUW-512G-1014
  • I had been browsing this forum, seen your helpful posts, and was very much hoping you'd add here. Many thanks. So to be certain: you 're saying my rig has a second slot (hd/sdd), and while the device can hold onto its original 500gb ssd in its first slot, it can also take on a 256gb ssd (perhaps larger, with risk) in an…
