My aspire 5745 was doing the same thing with firefox, I tried it with IE and it seemed to be working better. Now I'm trying Chrome and while I'm still getting the overheated CPU, it's not just arbitrarilty hanging with the browser. What did you do to fix your issue? Did you recover? or is it still broken?

so I've been watching this, I did blow out the system (without taking it apart) and will see if that helps. I've also seen related info to out of date drivers (?) on the Aspire 5745. I bought my system in 2010 Nov so it is out of warranty and there are a number of drivers (cpu chipset?) on the Acer website. I'm not that…
