aspire 7551 hangs

I have aspire laptop 7551-7422 and it "hangs" all the time when web browsing. I mosly use fireox and get the "not responding" message and then the cursor is "busy."  Is there a known problem with this laptop?  I have never had another computer that did this ALL the time.  i have windows 7 64 bit that came with it.  The machine has the Phenom 2 X4 cpu. If this is a known problem is there a recommended fix?

    same with IE ?

     

    if so, recovery system to earlier point or restore system

    My aspire 5745 was doing the same thing with firefox, I tried it with IE and it seemed to be working better.  Now I'm trying Chrome and while I'm still getting the overheated CPU, it's not just arbitrarilty hanging with the browser.

     

    What did you do to fix your issue? Did you recover? or is it still broken?

    I still need help ideas:

    I am still trying to fix the problem. I have been observing what MAY be causing this.  What I have found out is this:

    1) there are 55 programs running in the background on boot up, with the factory install.  (Other than Firefox, I have not downloaded any programs or installed anything on this laptop).

    I suspect something in there is accessing the harddrive, as when it hangs, the blue hard drive light stays solid for about 20 seconds, while the browser is frozen.

     

    2) I have tried using only IE9, but it still hangs, but I think just a little less often, but hangs the same when it does, HDD light on for 20 seconds and IE asks to recover webpage.

     

    Since I onlly use this to browse, I only have this problem when webbrowsing.

    Does anyone have a list of the MINIMUM programs I need to load up at start up for windows to run safely? 55 seems a bit high as I compared it to my homemade PC and that only has about 24 programs

     

    The only other difference I note is the Aspire uses McAfee and my home machine uses Norton. I doubt it is caused by the anti-virus software or I guess noone would buy McAfee.

     

    So, I still need help if anyone has ideas....
