  • I just applied the BIOS update on my E5-411 and the touchpad is FINALLY working properly! Why couldn't Acer provide the solution in this forum?? I can't believe I've had this laptop collecting dust on a shelf for six months having given up on a solution to the ridiculous touchpad issue. Really, Acer? BTW, I even installed…
  • I bought an E5-411 about 7 weeks ago and have the dreaded touchpad issue. I wish I had come here first before buying! The laptop is useless to me due to the touchpad being essentially unusable. I am very angry about this and Acer is totally silent about the problem. How can they market laptops that don't work as…
  • No apology necessary! Thanks very much for your efforts. Now if only Acer would pursue some due diligence, I might get some kind of resolution.
  • The Synaptics driver is: Windows\system32\DRIVERS\SynRMIHID ver. 18.1.2.1 2/20/14
  • Thanks, IronFly. I also looked under Human Interface Devices - Synaptics HID Device: HID\VEN_SYN&DEV_1B7B&Col04 HID\SYN1B7B&Col04 HID\*SYN1B7B&Col04 HID_DEVICE_UP:FF00_U:0001 HID_DEVICE_UPR:FF00-FFFF HID_DEVICE There's the Col04...
  • OK, here you go IronFly: HID\VEN_SYN&DEV_1B7B&Col01 HID\SYN1B7B&Col01 HID\*SYN1B7B&Col01 HID_DEVICE_SYSTEM_MOUSE HID_DEVICE_UP:0001_U:0002 HID_DEVICE
  • No errors or warnings in Device Mangler. Also checked Event Viewer - nothing in System or Hardware Events. ATTENTION Acer techs! Please attend to this rampant touchpad issue. Many, many complaints keep coming in.
  • I want documentation for this notebook, Acer. A reliable service manual. Will a tech from Acer read this and respond??
  • Thanks so much for the info. I'll probably give it a go in a day or two and will report back. But for crying out loud, what was Acer thinking, making it such a *** to upgrade RAM?!? Had I known, I never would have bought this thing. [word filter avoidance]
  • I have exactly the same problem with an Aspire E5-411. The nice Chat person from India couldn't help me and I have tried everything, including the Synaptics site. I don't want to use a mouse. The touchpad should be usable and it isn't without a way to adjust the settings. Why isn't this obvious to Acer and why isn't there…
  • I am used to using a touchpad and there is no reason why this one shouldn't work properly. There is no place to configure it and no tab for the touchpad in the Mouse applet in Control Panel. The label next to the touchpad says Precision Touchpad, but that's a joke, right?
