  • As I said I run vmware version 7 which is an old one. Newer versions do not work. The virtual machine I use is XP based and it runs ok when I allocate 786 MB of ram to it. Depends on how you want to utilize a virtual machine in order to see if w510 is ok.
  • When I said latest I meant the latest globally available. Currently it is 3.02 from the website, you ought to use that one. Some time ago when 2.08 came out, for a week or so it was available only through the acer application, before it was uploaded to the website. We should get the latest version available at any time no…
  • Just install the latest available package any time. As far as acer support is concerned, if you look some older messages I wrote I was also very very disappointed. But this time with windows 8.1, acer was the first to offer a driver package that included updated graphics drivers that got rid of major bugs (eg weaking up…
  • It is most certainly a bug...I have seen this come up and of course I never install it. First of all it would downgrade the BIOS (I do not know if that is allowed in the BIOS) and install older version of drivers which do not work, like the graphics driver.
  • Tommy better check your sheets again, probably you got something mixed up ... The W 510 features the cloverfield processor (Z2760) according to the tablet I have in front of me and the acer website. http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model-datasheet/NT.L0KAA.008 According to intel spec sheet the integrated graphics…
  • I believe the hardware does not support multitouch, so it is not a driver issue...probably a simple touchpad was chosen since you already have a multi-touch device screen...
  • I have been experiencing comparable things, but I have to state that I do not lose the battery overnight completely, but after 4-5 days I see it going down from 100% to 30%. I will disable hybrid boot and really turn off everything and see if this helps...
  • I have tried two versions: 1) 9.14.1130 (8/1/2013) 2) 9.14.3.1142 (22/2/2013) both have been extracted from the HP Envy x2 driver package. With the second one I run into trouble while installing and as such I continue to use the first one. Google earth might be considered a minor glitch, but I use it constantly. The…
  • I had the same trouble with firefox. There is an addon for firefox that goes around this annoyance. https://addons.mozilla.org/el/firefox/addon/grab-and-drag/ After installing this I can use firefox optimally with the touch screen.
  • I have already done that...I had some trouble installing 9.14.3.1142, there was an error message, but 9.14.1130 installs ok. The thing is why do I have to get into BIOS, disable secure boot options (this option is reverted back to enabled after the firmware update), go into windows, enable test mode in order to disable…
  • - Unbelievable autonomy over 15 hours easily (with the keyboard dock) - Can be used as tablet and as netbook/ultrabook (so long as you don't have very thick fingers) - Runs all windows applications you are used to - Even runs vmware 7, and you can load a virtual machine Other than that the graphics card is very basic. You…
  • Try this. Boot into windows, turn on flight mode, then shutdown. Restart the tablet again and see if it gets slow again. I got comparable problems from the wifi, especially when I had hybrid boot disabled. Probably caused due to drivers. Also if I have turned off the tablet with the keyboard on it using hybrid boot and…
  • On the [KMD.Mfg] part of the inf file just swap the entries in the HP driver with the ones from the latest Acer one. Also I have to state that I am not responsible if something bad happens to your computer by trying this
  • Problem solved. It all happened because of crappy drivers. I managed to install the newer 9.14.1130 (1/8/2013) drivers that were made available for HP Envy x2. In order to do that you have to edit the inf file, then disable driver signing and installing the drivers manually. Google earth runs now without trouble in DirectX…
  • I have been using it in opengl mode...the thing is that it ought to run in directx as well...
