I tried it on my W4. I know they are different machines. but there are similarities. Had no luck with dos at all.. not even windows 7 :/ You could try booting a windows 8 image from usb and press shift + f10 fhile in the installer. It should bring up a command prompt where you can do important stuff like mounting drives…

You can program eeproms over serial/parallel by using an app called ponyprog: http://www.lancos.com/prog.html It all depends on what make and model the chip is. Just a thought =)

Stuff happens even to the best. I bought a Lenovo a few months back. It broke down after two weeks. I've never had problems with neither Acer nor lenovo before. Don't be so harsh on them =)

They are at 120ohms so they are qenerally not good for portable use as you say. I can't complain about the sound quality itself, Only the volume, but that was to be expected. I tried them just for the fun of it. I also have a pair of koss porta pro and those where loud enough to make it uncomfortable instead. Hehe =)
