  • No. Removed the HD and it tests bad. Replaced with new HD I cloned and super fast start, back to normal. Only "big" problem I have is keyboard doesn't work. The large ribbon cable that goes from the keyboard to the mobo won't connect. When I disconnected it to get at the mobo, I tiny stip of black plastic fell out. I can't…
  • I think I found the problem. I don't know why I avoided the HD. I think the different failure indicators took me away from the HD. A simple boot failure in the beginning might have saved me the aggravation. Thanks for keeping up with me, Jack.
  • Been doing exactly what you suggest. Recovering with the Acer CDs. If this works, I'll install "Classic Shell" which gives the appearance of W-7. Have done that with a lot of owners who missed out on the 10 freebie and who can't stand 8. I'll get back to let you know if leaving it on 8 solves the problem I don't think a…
  • Got the original recovery from Acer. Windows 8.1 After installation, I upgraded back to Windows 10 that the owner had done. Its got the Windows 10 baked in. Owner said its been working OK on 10 since MS came out with free upgrade. I've used the Acer recovery and also booted in to a W-10 iso and installed from there. Since…
  • After you get over the scary sounding cracks, it does sort of pop off. Similar to some other AIO's I've worked on. Yes, you can access your Ram. Thanks, Iron. Got it going. Pete
  • Hi Iron, This is as far as it will slide out before it hits a stop. Do I have to "jerk it" forcefully? Or is this it and I just have to pry more on the case. Pete
  • I'll let you know how easy/difficult it is when I get it open. So far, I've only been able to "crack" the edges of the case. I have the CD/DVD drive pulled as far as I can but its still in the case. Normally, in normal PC laptops, there's a set screw holding the drive in. Not in this case. Does the drive have to come free…
  • Windows.old looks like my C:/Windows $Windows.~tmp is on the flash drive just like SD card. I just realized I made a Acer Factory Default Backup on another flash drive and that should be all I need. This mess started a week ago with the installation failing with the dreaded 0XC1900101..... Good thing I'm not charging…
  • Yes, I'm attaching a 32GB formatted to NTFS. I finally got the Reset working using the Acer Recovery. I was reaching a point where the Reset would get to 74% and a blue screen comes up with: "A configuration change was requested to clear this computer's TPM (Trusted Platform Module)" Warning: Clearing erases information…
  • Hi Blayn, Did the BIOS update from 1.04 to 1.06. Hpgrade moved alond to the second upgrade session, progree shown on a circle. I reached 23%, rebooted said it was reinstalling prior OS rebooted again and now I have a blue screen, not like a BSOD, error code 0000225 "You'll need to use recover tools on your installation…
  • I have a 1 TB external drive plugged in. It goes past that stage, I think. It stops the spinning circle half way, (That's the best I can describe it,) than a blue screen, not a BSOD, comes up with: "We could not install Windows 10" We set your PC Back...." 0XC1900101-0X20017 "The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase…
  • I've done exactly the same. This is on a brand new R3-131T with the 32GB drive. It gets all the way thru the upgrade and then locks up with half the spinning circle showing. When I restart, it says the upgrade fails for the following reasons: 0XC1900101-0X20017 Install failed in Safe OS phase... Googleing that has many,…
  • I have an R3-131T with the same problem. Big letters where I bought it and n a sticker around the monitor. "Windows 10 Now" "Upgrade to Windows 10" When I try, there's not enough space.
