Aspire ZC-606 How can I replace hard drive

Aspire ZC-606 that won't boot. It chirps once and asks for "Reboot and select proper boot device" or insert boot media....

I can boot to Setup and the Drive is missing, only the CD/DVD is there.

I need to take the hard drive out and backup all the data on it and replace it.

I can't find anywhere that shows me the removal process.

I've replaced many HDD's in all-in-ones but have always found some instructions.

Anyone help??

Pete

before changing the HDD i would try another SATA cable, the part number is: 50.U86D5.002

to open the back of your ZC, you need to open the 2 rubber feet at the bottom of the back cover and unscrew the 2 screws; then with a pin you need to push in the little hole of the DVD drive until it slide off; then you can lift the back cover.

Would this help for upgrading RAM?

No, I mean would you be able to acces the RAM the way you said to open the PC. Fortunatly, my HDD is fine, I just want to give it another 4gb of ram.

I'll let you know how easy/difficult it is when I get it open.

So far, I've only been able to "crack" the edges of the case. I have the CD/DVD drive pulled as far as I can but its still in the case.

Normally, in normal PC laptops, there's a set screw holding the drive in. Not in this case. Does the drive have to come free of the case?

not the case as far as i know, you just need to push the pin in the hole until it slides off and then you can take it out.

    Hi Iron,

This is as far as it will slide out before it hits a stop. Do I have to "jerk it" forcefully?

Or is this it and I just have to pry more on the case.

After you get over the scary sounding cracks, it does sort of pop off.

Similar to some other AIO's I've worked on.

Yes, you can access your Ram.

    Thanks, Iron. Got it going.

Thanks for that picture of the CD drive, as it helped me come close to opening it up. It DOES make pretty scrary sounding pops, but it's thankful thats just then coming out, not snapping and breaking. (the tabs)
