  • If this is what I think it is, it's because after you install the current drivers, Windows update will go back and install an older driver because it thinks the wrong one is installed. Once that's done, the Radeon control panel version doesn't match the installed driver. Make sure windows is up to date, install the latest…
  • HI, I'm currently running 20.10.1 as of today. Sleep and everything working normally. The problem I had was two fold. 1st, the ***** firmware is setup so that Windows update keeps reloading the 2018 driver, which is what I think screwed me up in the first place. Second, the key for me was to go into device manager and…
  • Well, you can set Windows to do whatever you want. When I had sleep causing it to reboot to a snowy screen and it locked up, I just set mine to shutdown when the lid was closed. I haven't needed it in a month or so, but it's been working fine for about 6 months now in sleep mode. Not to put too fine a point on it, but…
  • AU Optronics makes the panel. That part is the panel model number...Just like we said...nest to it, it says "Generic plug and play". That won't work. You didn't change the driver in Device Manager
  • Hi, you've probably seen my earlier posts, but what is listed as your monitor in Device Manager? The thing that fixed mine was switching from generic plug and play monitor to Digital Flat Panel 1920x1280 60hz and THEN using CRU on that display entry as outlined in the post. Took me a few reboots, but fixed both my sleep…
  • Yeah, I know..like I said, that's what mine said at one point, but can no longer find the inf file on the system anymore. The point was that the digital flat panel solved the problems if the Lenovo monitor driver was changed along the way.
  • Ok, I don't really have the time go back and figure out what actually happened, but with the latest driver, 20.5.1 and some additional playing around, I have everything working. I suspect it has to do with Microsoft changing the monitor drivers, but can't be sure unless I go back to the original drivers and start looking.…
  • Ok, don't know if anyone else was having problems with freesync, but found something that happened to me. Someplace along the way, windows and/or drivers switched my monitor to "Generic plug and play" monitor" Tried to edit this in CRU and it would not take. Kept telling me freesync disabled. Went to device manager and…
  • Well, I've been otherwise occupied with other things since I started this, but I couldn't agree more. I've read reviews detailing the static from launch, had this since the day I bought mine, and this was the third thread I've found on the subject. Acer chooses to look the other way. If it ISN'T their problem, you'd think…
  • Well, I hobby around with quite a few things, so an 8 core, 16 thread cpu was a very compelling reason for this choice. In addition, I used to run 2 Vega 64 cards in crossfire with my desktop, and found the Vega did fine with most of the games I've played. That, plus my Lenovo Intel 4 core with 750M sli graphics was…
  • Thanks for all the input. Not sure what the issue is with dark screen, but I finally got past that. Think it had something to do with automatic brightness, but it took a safe mode ddu run to cure that. The display modding program was a big help, since somewhere along the way, my monitor driver got rearranged/deleted. Used…
  • Just an update....as for freesync, I now am really lost. I thought it picked up freesync from the monitor drivers, I reinstalled 2020 just to check something I saw in a freesync support message from another pc maker. Low and behold, despite freesync being disabled, display refresh rate correctly shows 144hz in windows…
  • The purpose was not to assign blame, but state that this is not normal and, ultimately, Acer's responsibility, since they have the relationship with AMD. As for the issues, I am speaking a bit from prior experience. A Lenovo laptop had a similar issue when it was new. Either a windows update or driver update broke sli. It…
  • I may try that, although I'm not sure I want to give up freesync,so on the fence. At least 19.11.3 work (without sleep, of course).
  • For those who don't know. Vega graphics (64, 56, VII) are different from other systems in that even the memory is provided on the GPU. All the vendor has to do is add power supply circuits, pcie connection, and video outputs. There isn't a lot a vendor can do with hardware. Having said that, as far as the graphics are…
  • Look, while I always appreciate anyone on here who tries to help others, it's obvious you either don't game or are more casual. The entire point of releasing high end graphics drivers on a regular basis is to fix issues that can cause performance/stability issues with new games. It's not uncommon for a new game to be…
  • Well, just to add to the fun, Adrenalin 2020 drivers just dropped, and the lockup on sleep is the least of our problems. AMD made a lot of features available, and I'll have to wait till I get home to my desktop to find out what they are. Upon installing, Freesync was disabled, and on reboot, the screen went extremely dark.…
  • First off, I've read that idiotic line about "sleep has always been broken" far too many times. Let's keep in mind, unlike a desktop, with lots of variations in hardware, laptops are pretty much locked down. Second, I've had three different vega cards in three different desktops and had ZERO sleep problems with some of the…
  • Thanks for the input. Surprisingly, hibernate works, but sleep does not. As a short term workaround, I set the system to hibernate if I'm away too long. The startup hit isn't that much worse than sleep that I can't deal with it until I can call support and see what they have to say.
