  • Thanks for your help Iron Fly. I will certainly THINK of a clean install but not if or until I get any more problems.
  • I downloaded Reimage which found 4 trojans. Subsequent investigation found that these trojans had avoided Avast protection through Classic Shell which I have been using since Microsoft scrapped the start menu but had issued a warning about and I missed. I have now uninstalled Classic Shell as MS has restored the start…
  • Thanks for your help so far Iron Fly. I note your suspicion of Avast. Can you suggest another anti virus program?
  • I have Avast antivirus which reports everything virus free. I also regularly run spybot, superantispyware and garyutilities 5. I have just downloaded a major update to Avast released yesterday which requires a reboot. I do suspect that these unsigned files might be a suspect trojan but existing software scans have not…
  • New Atheros driver downloaded and installed. No change in boot up. Signature verification still says it found 371 files of which 368 were signed but those same 3 were unsigned and all files were scanned. So long as those 3 sys files are in the windows\system32\drivers folder or are replaced with verified files I am going…
  • A further question. Are the 3 files that signature verification says are not signed the same ones that the device manager shows? I can find the file bthleenum.sys in the Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator properties dialog but no sign of the other two files. The properties dialog for the Bluetooth USB module shows the…
  • No I havn't downloaded any from Acer support. When I go to the link you provided there are two BT drivers listed, one from Atheros and one from Realtec whereas I have 3 BT drivers which are not digitally signed so which do you recommend I download and what is the process for replacing the new driver for the three old ones?…
  • I uninstalled BT as you suggested and rebooted. 2 blue screens one after the other indicting a problem then a repair attempt which failed and offer to troubleshoot and f7 allows reboot. File verifications still says those 3 files have not been digitally signed and device manager says they are OK?
  • Success! Thank you for steering me in the right directon. Logical really that secure boot should be under authentification rather than boot options ;-{
