Hi Marlena, Laurent is right, it would be helpful if you tell us the model of your HDD. It seems to me that any 2,5'' (9.5 mm height) drive should do the job. The type of drive depends on the usage. The larger the RPM and the Cache, the more capable the drive is to handle more demanding software or games.

Hi there, I would say that it all depends on the external drive. If we presume that in general the drive is working fine, being unrecognized may be related to various reasons. Talking about powering, the “Y” cable may be enough, but that can not be said for sure. There are some external drives, which require separate power…
