  • Removing the access doors for memory and hard drive expansion helped my temps a lot in conjunction with a 5 fan cooling pad, the fans blow air directly on the memory and into the laptop.
  • I bought a cheap cooling pad then I removed the component doors for memory and the second drive so that some air blows directly into the laptop, it will still hit 90c on some really taxing games like Battlefield 5 but most other games I'll see around 65c to 80c.
  • I have the same laptop and it always does this, I always assumed it was designed that way to use the battery along with the charger to help feed the power without going with a bigger power supply.
  • Is secure boot on? Is the install usb properly formatted for a uefi install? Is the hard drive controller set in bios to RAID intel optane or ahci? Typically with touch pad issues it's recommended to upgrade the kernel to 4.18 or later for full support, might also be needed for wifi and bluetooth depending on which chip…
  • Hopefully you spread that paste out to a thin layer instead of leaving it the way it is in the pic, if you left it that way then there's a good chance you don't have full coverage, the holding pressure for the cooler is much lower with a laptop than a desktop, you might get full coverage but it's a big risk.
  • I can't speak for the 500 but I had some of the same issues with my helios 300 and the latest kernel 4.20.3 fixed all of them at once.
