What I mean is this seems a common problem with Acers, though I see others have this problem too. After a few discharge/charge cycles I now get a max of 48%. We seem to be going backwards.

Its a new battery. It went from 80%, down to 50% after cycling the drivers as per above, and it's now up to 53%. This does seem a perennial problem with Acer laptop batteries.
