  • No, you can't upgrade because your HM70 chipset only supports Pentium and Celeron CPUs. http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/hm70-mobile-chipset-brief.pdf https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/2nchde/unlocking_intel_chipset_hm70/…
  • It's probably a mistake in the database because I haven't seen anybody who could fix the HM70 i3/i5/i7 shutdown issue. The i3 3110M requieres a HM76 chipset motherboard.
  • Hello! Yes, I installed an i3-3110M and it shuts off after exactly 30 min. My bar code has the following characters: NBC1F11001312000
  • Think I found the cause of my problem: The Intel HM70 chipset doesn't allow i3/i5/i7 CPUs to be installed. "Intel has introduced an artificial limitation to handicap the unit by making it turn off after 30 minutes. It is a hard shutdown like when a system overheats."
  • I finished the upgrade but the system simply shuts down after ~45min of usage (or idle). CPU-temperature is fine (45°C) and the Ram is specified for 1600Mhz. I also tried a fresh windows installation with fitting drivers but the problem remains. Running the notebook by battery or power connection doesn't make a difference.…
  • Thank you very much! I will try the i3 3110M.
