So I was wrong about it missing 3 pins, it's missing 6 pins and its that way by design. On the SATA power connector there is only 9 pins. On the power connector on the SSD there is 15 pins. See pictures below:

I tried this and the battery drain pin hole for 30 seconds, neither of them worked. The SATA1/HDD1 line in the BIOS still says "None", obviously Disk Management doesn't show the drive either being as the machine itself doesn't recognize it. I did notice that the last 3 pins on the power side of the connector don't have…
