  • No, mSATA is something else, that's just a regular SATA 6GB connector, common for any SATA drive. My 72G came with 1TB HDD in the bay and a SATA drive in the m.2 slot. It kind of angered me it didn't come with an NVMe drive in the m.2 slot. Didn't know that until after I bought it. So I split the case and put an Intel…

  • I offered a reply in your thread. Hope that helps :)
  • That's the bay for a SATA 6GB drive. You can use a 2.5" SATA SSD there. You probably have to split the case to get to the M.2 slot, I had to on my 72G. NVMe is supported only by the M.2 slot. I think the 717-71G can support the full 3.0x4 NVMe speeds (PCI spec 3.0 with 4 lanes), but not sure. Older laptops can only support…
  • I have A717-72G and before I bought it I wanted as many specs as I could get. All I could get were the basics. Though it was enough to make the decision to buy one (really happy with it). Having it in my hands I use HWiNFO (https://www.hwinfo.com) to get all the nuts and bolts details. The only complaint I have with it…
  • Wouldn't be worth the trouble then, unless two drives are desired of course. I have two drives in mine, one in the bay and one in the M2 slot. I actually bought Intel drives, 545S and 760p, but I'd go with the Samsung drives if I could do it again. I do have a couple 860 Evo drives I use external over USB 3.1 and they're…
  • I second the Samsung 860 Evo, though if you want to spring for the extra the 860 Pro has longer service life. If your laptop has an M2 slot and supports NVMe, I'd look at the Samsung 870 Evo or Pro. Some notes on the M2 drive, it seems Acer laptops typically don't provide an access panel for the M2 drive. Often times you…
  • Thanks man ;)
  • I have the A717-72G which is like the consumer version of the Helios 17", same hardware just short a couple features. Yeah it's cold blooded, fans hardly ever run unless I'm playing a 3D game or doing some CPU intensive stuff. Love how cool this thing runs, case never even gets warm. Battery life is great too, 5 hours for…
  • I have an A717-72G which has similar hardware. I play a few low-spec games on it. There are some known issues with running the default power saving mode of "optimum" in the nVidia control panel with some games. What I do is set my global power setting to optimum then for each game on the Programs Settings tab of nVidia…
  • Sorry to hear of your troubles, I've had good luck with Acer, have a laptop I bought in 2006 that's still running well today with a upgrade to a faster CPU, SSD, and more memory some years ago, battery replaced several times, but that's normal wear and tear. Got at least ten years off the last Acer monitor I ran. Even…
  • Here's the exact error; The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device USB\VID_04F3&PID_0C03\5&eca343a&0&8.
