  • RESOLUTION: After a bit of personal research (Bing-fu skills) regarding my issue posted, I found a known specific issue regarding the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) in the Aspire VN7-792G models. If you experience the same or similar TPM issues, please reference the following: Intel® Product Security Center…
  • Are you suggesting there is a known specific issue of RAM and TPM on the Aspire VN7-792G model?
  • Yes. Currently installed is HMA41GS6AFR8N-TF 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2132 SODIMM. I'm planning to install Ballistix Sport LT 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2400 SODIMM Are you suggesting there is a known specific issue of RAM and TPM on the Aspire VN7-792G model?
  • Hi Jax, I have a friend with an Acer Aspire M3910. We thinking about upgrading to Windows 10. How was your Win10 upgrade experience? Did you have many driver compatibility issues? BTW, support for older Acer computers is getting more difficult because all the old experts with the knowledge have moved on to other roles or…
  • I am helping a friend that has an Acer Aspire M3910. The first ten characters of the S/N are PTSDX02092. I am seeking advice on recovery and upgrades. (i.e. P/N's for recovery DVD/USB, RAM modules to max to 16GB, Windows 10 O/S, etc) Unfortunately, my friend did not create an Acer recovery DVD when first purchased and now…
  • Currently, I'm waiting a bit for the "right" DDR-2400 memory sale and to acquire a 2TB SSD to upgrade the existing internal HDD. Because it's a PIA to open up my 792G and upgrade components, I plan to upgrade both RAM and HDD at the same time to minimize my laptop downtime. I'll ping-back to this thread with my solutions…
  • @laurent_14, ditto... I read the same specs and a few others like it before I posted the message. After my intial memory bandwidth research, I still have a bit of uncertainty regarding the reaction of the Intel Memory Controller (IMC) in the 6th generation processors if DDR4 memory modules with Intel XMP 2.0 profile speeds…
  • @Sumdud, Excellent! Thank you for the link and sharing your hardware info comparison screen caputures. It is easy to visualize what you are saying about the CPU Package Power and IA Cores Power usages when the i7-6700HQ enters into Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and utilizes all four cores. What is the current battery hardware…
  • @Sumdud, This is a bit off topic but... my 792G has an Intel i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz (http://ark.intel.com/products/88967/Intel-Core-i7-6700HQ-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz) in a Socket 1440 FCBGA (0x5). My max TDP is 45.0 W and max Junction Temperature is 100°C. Have you posted to the webs additional notes or vids…
  • SOLUTION: I replaced the monitor with a monitor that is compatible with the HDMI output on my 792G. Root cause: The HDMI handshake failed on the old monitor. Cheers, CJ
  • @Sumdud, for my 792G I am also skeptical to run a power adapter that has a lower rated output (135W vs. 120W or 90W or 65W). Basically, I am okay with the Acer power adapter that came with my 792G. A slimmer and lightweight power adapter version would be cool for my travel but not essential. Cheers, CJ
  • @sharky25k, every power adapter has an operating temperature range. The respected and good power adapters like the ones that come with our Acer VN7 notebooks have temperature protection circuits. Unfortunately, the operating temperature specs for my VN7-792G power adapter (Part# AK.135AP.020) is not listed on datasheet or…
