Aspire V17 Nitro VN7-792G-75RU notebook HDMI output failure

Hi, to the group. I am seeking help to troubleshoot an issue with my VN7 notebook noted in the subject.

 

Issue: the HDMI output on my VN7 notebook stopped working. The HDMI output was working fine. No hardware changes to notebook or external monitor since last known good. I've tested my HDMI cables and HDMI monitor using my desktop and tablet devices which all work fine to display output via HDMI on the same equipment. Did I mistakenly flip a bit or setting to disable HDMI on my notebook? Is there a way to run HDMI diagnostics on the VN7?

 

I also tried searching related questions asked by other members. The only thing close was a message about connecting to a television. I am connecting to a computer monitor and/or projector.

    SOLUTION: I replaced the monitor with a monitor that is compatible with the HDMI output on my 792G.

    Root cause: The HDMI handshake failed on the old monitor.

    Since you are running a non-OEM version of Windows 10, you might try restoring it back to the OEM version of Windows and test the HDMI port. Perhaps other posters here can suggestion something else, but if it works then you know it’s software related. If it does not resolve the issue, it would appear to be hardware related requiring service.
