  • Not true, YouTube also knows. While it is important to stress that following YouTube advice is done at your own risk.
  • While the original poster may have remembered his password by now, there is a video on YouTube that includes a desprition on how to reset the BIOS password. It involves downloading a file and booting with the file on a USB drive. While it may seem risky, I did try it and it worked. It did remove the BIOS password on my…
  • Thanks for your input! That thread is about an x64 Acer with Inte HD Graphics 4000 and since the W510 is x32, I would greatly appreciate a more specific pointer as to what driver to use.
  • Windows 10 runs 14393 just fine, but Edge still has several lost icons and quite often tabs as well. Every now and then it works and displays all icons and tabs, but that is the exception rather than the normal state.
  • Interesting to see that software engineers are still working on this. In the meantime, I might just check out these older 2.02 drivers.
  • Are you using an external monitor via HDMI? I do and I noticed that the Anniversary update change my default settings to use the monitors speakers, which do not exist, rather than my computer's built-in speakers when I have it connected to my externa monitor. Check the Volume icon in the task bar, click on the arrow in the…
  • The Iconia W510 is for most people no longer under warranty, so having said that you will void any warranty and might risk doing more damage et cetera. I understand that manufacturers do not help customers opening up their products and prefer to have them send them in for repair. Have you tried removing the screws that are…
  • The very same thing happened to me with my touchpad on my W510. First, I thought, I accidentaly had pressed Fn and F7 at the same time and thus disabled the touchpad. I tried pressing both buttons to no avail. I have not seen and info on who has made the touchpad for the W510. My touchpad could not be visible in Device…
  • Having used the system more since my last update I have learned more about its behaviour. It appears it now works as it should. Right now the touchpad and keyboard work even when the system power is down to 31 %. The main battery is currently down to 57 % and the keyboard dock's battery is fully depleted, 0 %. After more…
  • My Iconia W510 showed similar problems. The touchpad worked under Win 10 for almost a week before it stopped responding. I did try Fn+F7 but to no avail. Drivers nor hardware could not be found in device manager, thus not reinstalled either. Win 10's system restore function did the trick for me.
  • I used Windows System Restore on my W510. Already during the reboot the touchpad started to work again. It completed, which took quite some time, but ended with a notice that said System Restore failed. It said it could not restore the system since no changes was discovered. It worked, touchpad has worked since. The Acer…
  • I had the same problem, albet on an Iconia W510. Since I could not even find the touchpad in Device Manager I tried System Restore, which worked. Just a thought if you do not succed with reintalling the drivers.
  • Which software are you using? Skype, Windows camera app, Acer Crystal Eye, something else? Try all of these as they are free. Have you tried switching camera within the software?
  • Thanks for your suggestion, but no. I have no screen saver enabled.
  • Since I failed to locate the touchpad drivers and thereby reinstall them I used the System Restore feature. Oddly enough the touchpad started working imediately during the restore process albeit System Restore itself ended with a message that it failed to restore Windows to an earlier point as no changes were identified.…
  • Could you describe your problem a bit more in detail? Are you experiencing software/driver problems or a hardware problem?
  • Hm, fully charged and still not working. That is a first. The keyboard works, as does the USB port... Edit: Still nt working, but the hardware is OK. If I enter BIOS, the touchpad works there, so it is a Windows/driver related problem rather than ha hardware problem.
  • Moving the thread without leaving a link? How is that for user-friendly? Well thanks to the fellow user who created a new thread with a link to this thread's new location. I noted that neither the W510 nor the W511 are on Acer's Windows 10 compability list and as such will not recieve support for Windows 10. I take it Acer…
  • Is this a permanent state or something that happens occasionally? While my dock's keyboard always work, the touchpad has shut down on me a couple of times. I noticed a pattern and it seems the dock charges the pad while in sleep/hibernation/turned off. This drains the dock's battery. When in use, my W510 drains the dock's…
  • Ah, the wonderful magic of computers... I had the Windows 10 reserve button but today it had dissappeared! Not that I have the time to upgrade this week anyway, but I do find it amusing that it has been there right until launch day only to dissappear once the upgrade is actually available. It is probably due to the app's…
