  • Well just to let you know I sussed it. Thanks for all your advice. It was the thermal throttling on the GPU that was causing the problem. I repasted the GPU and CPU and used SnowBabe Thermalright Thermal Pad 12.8 W/mk on the rest. Now my gpu sits at about 45 and cpu 65 and everything is running at full throttle again. Also…
  • I am at a bit of a loss here. I have many years experience with computers but am struggling to suss out my problem. I have a 2019 Predator PT515-51. It has had very little use. The only games I have are Steam platform Uboat, Myst and Train Sim World 2 which were giving my around 50fps. In January this suddenly dropped to…
  • I have just run a test using these programs and the temp seems pretty cool at 57C so maybe I have answered my own question  Still like some feedback in case I am missing something...
  • OK I went to the Acer Drivers downloads and downloaded the Date:2019/02/12 Version: 8.4.11000.6436 Vendor: Intel Size: 7.9 MB BUt when I went to install it it said it was earlier than the one I had installed. I can only assume the Intel update app replaced it. What is your view?
  • Problem with waiting for this driver is it could be forever or even never... I have checked and because my machine is 2019 it may not happen. I ran the 3dmark demo benchmark today to actually see what my temperatures were today and the GPU averages 50C and the CPU never wen t above 89 but generally stayed at 82. If you…
  • I fully understand what you are saying and I have taken it on board. But the Artic paste I have used has fixed the GPU temp buy the CPU is rising into the 80s just with photoshop which it didn't do before. I am assuming that the vram with the paste is not cooling properly so I figured I would use the Thermal pads. I am…
  • The top picture with the silver paste is just before I put it together. The Blue paste is when I took it apart. So when I put it together after the silver paste (Artic M4) picture the GPU stayed below 50C but the CPU seems to stay around 69-72 and suddenly jumps to 80 under load but only for a second. I didn't realise…
  • I have been looking at a lot of stuff on the net and see what you mean. I have I have ordered a sheet of Artic pad so I will put it on the vram i.e. everything that had the Blue and redo the CPU/GPU with the silver paste again. Hopefully that will fix it.
  • Looking again at what you are saying I have noticed in my picture that I didn'y heatsink the 2 areas where the pins come through as they had blue thermal paste before. I presume where you say pink VRAM paste mine is the Blue. So where are the Blue thermal paste areas are could I use thermal heat pads instead? If not what…
  • This is the M/B before I cleaned and repasted it. No pink stuff that I can see...
  • I replaced all of the paste on all the chips As in the picture above. I used the spatula method on the video you sent me. So by what you are sayinf I seem to have done this wrong so I will have to strip it, clean it and do it again. Can you recommend the best pastes that I need please. I cannot see anything with pink…

  • I am not totally happy. I have cleaned my fans, vents and repasted my CPU and all the other required components with ARTIC MX-4 thermal paste but I am not totally happy. Firstly I had to remove the heatsink again and repaste it because the GPU only dropped to 52C. So I repasted and now it is 41-47 and seems to have fixed…
  • Yep, I changed it whilst repasting my processors and it works fine. I didn't notice the option. I resized is as per a video by the same guy as above to clone and extend. I.e. I extended it manually with the clone command. I didn't notice it had the option to extend it automatically. Basically I dragged the partitions over…
  • I tried to extend the volume to the full amount with it in the USB Thunderbolt but it would not allow me. Any ideas? I have attached the pictures.I pressume as it didn't let me do it I haven't screwed it as a boot drive.
  • Thanks for you help. I downloaded the program you recommended and ran it in clone mode with my USB (Thunderbolt) drive and it said it has completed ok. This is interesting as Samsung Migration, Acronis Clone and Easeus all threw up errors and failed. So the answer will be when I plug it in and boot. I have attached the…
  • I have just ordered some Artic Thermal paste and while I am at it I am going to change the standard 500GB WDC PC SN720 SDA for a Samsung 980 PRO 1 TB PCIe Gen 4.0 M.2 I already have a Samsung 1TB SSD 970 in the D drive. I am going to complete the stuff you put in your guide as I haven't cleaned out and reinstalled the…
  • Thanks for that info. That would explain the irratic behaviour. What would I expect to see max temp C for running a game like TSW2? Ironic, I vacuum the air vents every day when I use it as I have dogs and they kicks up a lot of dust.
  • OK I am currently carrying out your optimising recommendations. Further to my origin al posts I noticed that the PredatorSense wasn't set to extreme for the specific programs I run although my Logi G Hub is. Anyway I set the Predatorsense to the specific programs for extreme. Running Train Sim World 2 (picture attached) I…
