  • Problem fixed. I decided to check the cmos battery, which is a pain to get at, but when I eventually extracted it, it was dead, so replaced it and laptop boots up ok now!
  • Tried an external monitor via hdmi but no display on that. I guess that rules out the laptop display being faulty. Haven't got another suitable charger, but current one is outputting 19v so that looks ok. Have reseated both memory cards and also tried with both cards individually, still no display.   • Thanks. I gave your suggestion a try, but still no display, just a black screen. I then tried removing the hard disc hoping that the bios would display a message that no disc was detected, but still nothing.
