I have a Predator Helios 300 that I'm attempting to attach a monitor via HDMI -> USB-C adapter and have been unable to get it to work. I've updated all drivers, checked for local errors, etc. Am I missing something obvious? For clarity, the adapter I'm using works on my Lenovo so I don't think that's the problem, but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Do you have the full.model number ? And what adapter are you using?

Looking at a manual for the G3 series ( https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/PDFs/A1NH.Q3HEK.006_1_Original.pdf ) it doesn't look like it supports display over USBC I'm afraid it's not a standard feature in usb 3 C.

Usually it would be under the type c information tab in the manual , but it only seems to have the power delivery information, (pages 11 and 56) :(

If you need an extra moniotr on top of the device do and hdmi you could grab a display link adapter

Leostat - Thanks for the reply. According to Warranty Status Description I have a:

    PH315-52-78VL-US W10HCML64P/I7-9750H/BT/GTX 1660TI/16G/256GB PCI NVME/4L3.72/15.6

I currently already run on HDMI monitor on the single HDMI port. As I think you indicated, I'm trying to run another on a USB-C based adapter.. would Display Port work better? I'm unfamiliar with Display Link.

Ah then yes that model doesnt support USB type c video im afraid nor does it have displayport either looking at the spec sheet (its a differnt one with that)

Display link uses a USB3 adapter to shuttle video over usb data. It works pretty much like another GPU just over USB, and it uses the CPU to do all the encoding and decoding. They do a few differnt styles from Docks, to adapters, to full on screens (what i use). They keep an index of adapters here:
    https://www.displaylink.com/products

You may need a driver to get it to work, but most are plug and play now in windows 10.

Startech and Plugabble are the cheaper of the providers of the adapters and amazon carries them :) For example you have this one which converts from USB to HDMI : https://amzn.to/3rrmtqx

The screens can usually go upto either 2 or 4k, and they top out at 60fps
