Acer Nitro 5 consistently has hardware failure

Hey so I’ve had my acer nitro 5 for just over a year now and it has completely stopped working 3 times. I’ve sent it in to the acer warehouse twice now and both times I’ve gotten it back it has broken again. The issue is that it slows down to an unusable pace then if I try and turn it on it says no bootable devices. Acer has done nothing to help me and every time I send the computer in it comes back just as broken and trashy as it was before. Anyone else have similar experiences with the company? I’m seriously disappointed with their lack of support, ability, and service. Will never get an acer product again.

    I have been very happy with my Nitro 5. Had it for about 2.5 years and it still runs great. I am in IT and when people try to get me to recommend a brand I always tell them to look at components instead of brand and that you can get a lemon from anyone. Sounds like you just got unlucky and I am sorry about that.

    Dylansjsh what are the exact specs of your Nitro 5 e.g. HDD's , Ram, CPU/GPU as the upkeep of any computer/laptop is essential e.g. operating system updates, up to date of all drivers, appropriate bios updates is essential. Allot of problems are due to what users do and don’t do, which contributes to allot of these problems and just doesn’t happen magically. Ok so you said your Nitro 5 has these problems;

    • slows down to an unusable pace
    • then if I try and turn it on it says no bootable devices

    The "no bootable device" which relates to a bootable device which is a storage hardware, such as your hard drive, be it an M.2 or a 2.5” spinner HDD or an SSD or it could be in other cases a USB flash drive that some people use, which contains necessary boot files and drivers for loading the operating system. BIOS is a program in computers used to load the operating system and execute the boot operation and if that is not up to date and has errors and/or is corrupt you will get the “no bootable device found” error which is actually reported by BIOS. It means BIOS cannot find or locate the boot device or the boot files on the boot device are incorrect.

    It could also be your hard drive that has the boot drive on, what are the specs of your hard drive that has the boot drive? Is it on an M.2 drive or a 2.5” hard drive, give us more details! As the possible causes of this "no bootable device" could be these reasons you can take a look at.  

    Follow this link guide and their steps to fix the "no bootable device" (if you have the experience and know what you are doing?) as that is what should have been done to fix your "no bootable device" and slowing down problems. Its quite a simple task.

    Btw; if you are using an SSD drive always have the TRIM task within windows activated as the TRIM feature allows Windows 10, or any supported operating system, to notify an SSD which blocks of data are no longer in use and can be safely wiped out to be writable again. Having this operation done ahead of time improves performance, as the drive won't have to spend time erasing a particular block when space is needed to store new data, ensuring the SSD reaches its advertised lifespan.
