SF314-54 - Swift 3 Randomly Entering Sleep Mode

I've had this problem over the past month when my laptop will randomly enter sleep mode without warning. In event viewer, it always lists the following error message

Miniport Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter #4, {2a083d02-5294-4cb8-96d9-5071f0a76785}, had event Fatal error: The miniport has failed a power transition to operational power

I've only had this error when I've been charging my laptop and haven't experienced it when I'm plugging in or disconnecting the charger. I have also checked my drivers and they are all up to date so would appreciate any advice as to why this might be happening.

I think that error message is a result of rather than the cause of, this is going to sound silly but do you have a watch / bracelet or anything magnetic on? Sometimes its caused as the lid close is a magneto sensor (its worth checking even if it most likley isnt that!)

In  the system event viewer if you filter to event log ID 42, whats the "reason" it says its sleeping?

    Hi ojmilton,

    # Try to get the BIOS page.
    1. Press and hold the F2 key and turn on the unit.
    2. You will be in setup utility page.
    3. Once you got the screen release the F2 key.
    4. Tap on F9 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    5. Tap on F10 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    6. Your unit will restart by itself.

Check this T/S and post the result.

I've checked but can't find anything magnetic nearby that might be affecting my laptop. I've gone through event viewer looking for entries around the time my laptop has gone to sleep and they all have the same messsage:

    The system is entering sleep.

    Sleep Reason: Application API

Any other logs directly before that? Annoyingly that one just means a application has requested the laptop sleep which can be anything from Windows to some rand app

I've tried this, however I couldn't get the BIOS to load. The only successfuly way I can access the BIOs is to click on Advanced start-up in the Windows settings menu

It happened again last night but unfortunately, I wasn't able to see any other messages. One thought I've had is that the laptop is getting too hot, however I haven't found any messages indiciating this in the event viewer.

Is there anything for the event ID 187 or 1074? It may have something like
User-mode process attempted to change the system state by calling SetSuspendState or SetSystemPowerState APIs.

And then in the details the offedning process

Sorry for the late response, I don't appear to be getting any other error messages when this happens. Interesting, I've looked up the error code and I am getting it several times throughout the day however it only seems to go into sleep mode whenever I am plugged in. I'm starting to wonder whether there may be something faulty with my power cord as the laptop appears to get very hot whenever it is plugged in.

I don't know if this will be of any use, but this is the full detail list from the above error message:

Afraid not, i think thats a red herring event or a result of the sleep rather than the cause :(
