Hi, I have an Acer Aspire A317-32 laptop 3 months old.
I cannot now connect to the router via wifi, the laptop has connected briefly in the past but each time loses connection on the next use of the laptop. The router has been checked (an hour with ISP provider virgin media), all is OK there. A PC and two Android tablets connect to the router with no problems. The laptop will connect to the router via ethernet cable. I've made sure Win10 and all drivers are up to date. I've tried dozens of possible fixes from this site and many others all to no avail. So I think the problem is with the network adapter card.
I've read that the Atheros QCA9377 adapter card sometimes causes problems with wifi. Could this be confirmed or denied and if confirmed what card could be a good replacement?
Many Thanks.

Go to device manager>network adapter> uninstall the wireless Atheros network driver and restart the  unit. Than go to settings> internet>show available network and try to connect . still if did not work than try the below steps and check

power drain: Just check the back of the unit, you can find a pin hole , unplug the charger and turn off the unit. now put a paper clip in the small pin hole and press and hold it for 30 sec.

BIOS default: After power drain is done, power on the unit, but as soon as you power on the unit keep pressing the F2 key so that it take you to BIOS page. Press F9 and press Enter than press F10 and press Enter. the unit will restart

Hi Jack 22, I tried the above with hope as I'd not heard of the BIOS bit.
No luck though, still can't connect to either of my wifi 2G or 5G.
I'm always asked for the network security password, laptop tries to connect for a few seconds then states "Unable to connect to this network".
Is there anything else I can try?
    Regards Bernard

If it asking for the network security key than you need to enter the password for the wifi , so check restating the router once and try to connect, or call the ISP for the network security key

    Hi, I've done all that.
Restarted the router several times, rebooted the router, and had the router and service checked by my ISP provider Virgin Media.
The password is correct as I use it on other devices.
    Regards Bernard.
