Hello, i own a Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-51) and just today I have been receiving warnings and errors and game's refusing to boot. I have 8GB of ram in the system (and before anybody says, upgrading won't be an option). If anybody knows please do get in touch as I have online classes tomorrow.
Thank you

Hi, it's me on another account. The old one broke on this comment lol. Anyway.
Thanks for responding, it doesn't say too much but often it says things such as, "This requested more RAM than is available."   or / "Ran out of RAM"
It has never done any of this before, and I don't really know what the problem is.

Your problem is there - your system needs more RAM. One possible way is increasing swap, but trust me, you won't want to go down that path - unless you have a fast SSD with windows on it.

That is a tad odd, it should swap out when out of memeory rather than crashing out, if you goto start -> system -> advanced system settings -> advanced -> under performance click settings -> advanced

Whats the total paging file size? Some guides tell you to turn it off which is a bad idea and can cause this :)

It crashes when the swap speed isn't enough to support the application.
And yes, how much ever RAM you have have, it is a good idea to leave a small amount to paging file.

Could very well be the case - my Nitro 7 was crashing in games - i have 16 GB RAM and page file.

So here is what i did:
    1. Turn off page file.
    2. Restart.
    3. Set page file on windows drive - set it to custom size - 1024 intial size and max size 4096.
    4. Restart.

In addition to above, I disabled the services:
    1. search - this will only stop indexing, for home use it really doesn't matter in terms of speed unless you search a lot.
    2. sysmain - preloads data to RAM based on usage patterns... but given all of us use SSDs pretty much, this doesn't really add much value to me.

This helped resolve bad page file issue for me.
