Hello. I am having trouble with my memory module. I have a Acer Nitro 5 -AN515-42 with a stock ram of 4gb 1rx16 DDR4 2666mhz. I also have another ram with the specs of 8gb 1rx8 DDR4 2666mhz. I tried to put them together, it boots up but after a while a blue screen will appear saying that an error occured. I also tried to put the 8gb alone but the same result occured. What could be the problem with this set up ? And is it possible to use only the 8gb ram ? Thank you.

What is the full error code you get on the BSOD? And whats the spec of the installed ram / ram you bought? (CPUz will be able to tell you this under the memory and spd tabs)

You can use either the 8GB by itself, or mix them together, but running both them may hurt performance as not only would it be single channel, they wouldnt be matched

Good day. The installed ram has the spec of those in the pic ( pic of CPUz). I dont have a pic for the ram i bought but it has the same DDR4 2666mhz  the only difference of the 2 is, the intalled ram is 4gb 1rx16, and the one i bought is 8gb 1rx8. I tried to use the 8gb alone, it boots up but after a while a blue screen will appear ( like in the pic ).

Thats a very generic blue screen im afraid :(, lots of places suggests running chckdisk and memroy diagnosticts followed by re-seating the ram, but there is so many differnt things that can cause it, its hard to troubleshoot

It sounds very much like the 8GB module is faulty.

That's unfortunate. Thankyou for your insights. I'll just try to buy a new one.
