I have been trying to use a recovery USB stick from acer. I have enabled boot manager and changed boot to USB yet when I restart and press f12 there is only boot manager shown and no option to switch to USB. After paying for this USB, I don't want it to be a waste of money

What computer do you have? It's possible that the recovery image needs to be booted in legacy mode, or in the d2d recovery environment.

I have the acer aspire switch 10e. I cannot access legacy mode in boot manager and d2d when evoke only gets to 66 percent. I bought the recovery USB but does not see it.0

So, one of the SW3-013 models or a different Switch 10E? It looks like you will need to disable Secure Boot before the Recovery flash drive will be recognized for a boot source. That should be in the Boot tab.

I did this following instructions but even if it is disabled, I still cannot access anything when I press f12. Boot menu comes up but no option to switch between hdd or USB.0

That sounds like the install flash drive isn't setup right. How did you create it?

Can you check to see if the recovery has a boot folder?

In order to boot the EFI environment the system either need an EFI partition (created when Windows is installed) with the proper files or a removable device has to have a boot folder with the same files. I don't believe you can go the folder route for internal devices. If the recovery image was created using a legacy boot environment it will not boot in UEFI mode, if it was created with a UEFI environment it will not boot in secure boot mode because the EFI files don't exactly match what's supposed to be in the EFI partition. Using the BIOS to set secure boot off and F12 boot menu on should give you the option to boot the recovery drive.

I did do this and when pressed f12 the only option was boot menu but after selecting that nothing happened. I have changed boot sequence to USB efi to top and saved but still only receive boot menu after f12. States no bootable drive after selection.0

So that sounds like the recovery image doesn't have the proper UEFI boot environment on it. Did it have the boot folder? What was in the folder?

So that all looks like it should be working. Boot into the BIOS and let's take a look at the menus. You should be in UEFI mode, with Secure Boot disabled and the F12 Boot Menu enabled.

I remember doing this but when I finish my night shift, will take pictures of what I see on the actual screen. In bios and the boot menu. Thanks for your help. It is appreciated0

I have set it to disable secure bootand moved usb to 1 priority but when press f12 just see boot menu. Having fixed computers most of the time, this is the first time I have encountered this issue.

Windows boot manager should be the correct setting, the the boot order USB HDD followed by WBM. The F12 should then show you the two boot devices... Try using the Select a UEFI file as trusted and navigate to the .EFI file in the flash drive.
