Acer Aspire Xc-895 installing a gt 1030

I wanted to ask if it was possible to install a gt 1030 into the aspire xc-895.
Since it only requires 30W and the motherboard has a pcie slot it should be possible right?
However the recomendations say that you need 300W psu and I only have 180. Thanks in advance for your time.

Sure that shouldn't give you any problems, it just uses the PCIe x16 slot's power budget.

    So I've got an update:
I went ahead and bought one. So far my PC has crashed twice while installing drivers, but once i unplugged the harddrive it installed successullf. This leads me to believe that the 180Watt Psu is really getting pushed to it's limit.
After the newest drivers were intalled i plugged the harddrive back and haven't had any problems since.
Is it worth it? I'd say so, since it allows you to play many games at 30 FPS.
However i'm unsure how this will effect the lifetime of the PSU.

If you start seeing flaky behavior that might be traceable to power you could look into the 300W or 500W supplies as a replacement for your 180W. They are he same physical size and have the same power connectors to the MB.

Hey is there any PSU you can recommend for these machines as they only push out a max of 180 watts.  This is the exact part

FSP Switching Power Supply Wide Voltage FSP180 10TGBAA 180W

Im having issues trying to find an upgrade for the psu

Seen one here but not sure of the dimensions etc

Acer has 500W supplies available for other models, and since the form factor is the same they can be used on yours. Two Acer part numbers for 500W supplies are: DC.5001H.001 and DC.5001B.009. Part numbers for 300W supplies are: DC.3001B.00A and DC.30018.00C.

Don't know if this helps but I need a sata power cable, 50.VQED3.001. Gave Acer UK a call and they confirmed they can supply one and gave me the cost including delivery (£10.49). Might be worth you contacting Acer if you can.

Yeah, you can usually get them direct from Acer and from the Acer service centers and parts suppliers. You should be able to find them by Googling the part numbers.
