I tried changing the battery (which only lasted 40 minutes) with a new battery. The new battery never charged but I couldn't figure out why, so I returned it. I tried to put the old battery back but it doesn't charge anymore.
I searched this community for different solutions for the internal battery that is not charging. I tried to reset the battery with the button behind the computer ("pinhole reset button"). I tried also holding the power button for over 30 seconds (computer off and without power cable). I tried reinstalling or disabling the drivers ("Microsoft ACPI Compatible Battery" and "Microsoft AC Card"). I also tried several times to disconnect the battery connector by unmounting it from the computer. However, I was unable to solve the problem. Currently when I put the computer in charge (computer off) the orange LED turns on but after a few minutes it starts blinking and the battery does not charge. Do you have any other solutions to suggest please?

So, did you try the full battery reset, or just hit the reset button? You should turn the laptop off and disconnect power, then press and hold the reset for 15-30 seconds. Release the button and wait 15-30 minutes, then plug power back in. Wait for it to indicate a full charge and turn it back on and see what it now says about the battery...

Dear billsey, I tried your procedure twice but it didn't work. I believe that the battery (although it is the original one) is not recognized. In fact "powershell -> powercfg / batteryreport" shows as if the installed battery was an "OEM" battery, instead of the original battery. Do you have any other suggestions?

It sure sounds as if the battery has failed. I wonder if the replacement you got (and sent back) was either the wrong one or bad itself?

I don't know what problems the battery I bought had, it was still a compatible battery with my acer. However, this battery was not charging. The strange thing is that when I put the (old) original battery back it is no longer charged even though the last time I used it it was recharged and the duration reached 40 minutes as I had previously said.
