To solve the below issue I'm having with my USB port, a friend suggested I use Acer's Hardware Scan tool to determine the manufacturer of all the components in my computer and go directly through them to get my drivers. I couldn't locate this tool, and they can't remember where it's at. Does anyone know where it is or if Acer has one? If you have any other suggestions about what else it could be, I'd love your input. It's got to be a software problem, because the hardware works fine as long as I'm only using one port at a time. This is driving me batty. *rolls eyes at herself* First world problems. Am I right?

I have an ASUS NITRO 5 AN515-44-R99Q. I bought it brand new less than two months ago and love it. Today, my mouse stopped working and after some trial and error I found that it only stops working when I have something plugged into both USB 3.0-A Type ports on the left side. The items I have plugged in currently are my laptop fan and my mouse.
  • If I plug my mouse into USB port 1 or 2 and leave the other USB port empty, it works fine.
  • If I plug my fan into USB port 1 or 2 and leave the other USB port empty, it works fine.
  • If I plug my mouse into USB port 1 and my fan into USB port 2, they both stop working.
  • If I plug my fan into USB port 1 and my mouse into USB port 2, they both stop working.
  • Having my phone plugged into the USB 3.1 port on the right side does not affect the issue.
I have attempted the following TS Steps so far:
  • Rebooted computer - Same results
  • Restarted computer - Same results
  • Scanned for hardware changes in device manager - Same results
  • Deleted all USB devices and reinstalled the Chipset drivers - Same results
  • Updated BIOS software to version 103 - Same results
The only thing I can think of is that the chipset drivers aren't where the USB drivers are located, but that makes little sense because after I downloaded the chipset drivers, the USB devices reappeared after reboot. That said, I'm not sure if this is something that would automatically fix itself during a reboot. My other thought was that maybe there is a more recent version of the BIOS software that I somehow missed. Thoughts?

Not quite what I was looking for, but I appreciate the effort. I already knew how to update my drivers and had already done so multiple times. My friend suggested going through the actual manufacturer of the hardware in my computer for the drivers instead of through the Windows auto download or the Acer website. But they also said that Acer should have a scan that tells you who makes each component on their support website, and that's what I was looking for. I'd still like to find that scan, but I also solved the issue I had that started this whole adventure It wasn't the computer. It was the fan I was using. The cord fell off and after that happened; I got a new fan. I'm now able to plug in both without the issue occurring.

Alystaeria In theory Windows update should update the drivers, but you could also just do them all manually via the device manager. Hold up, I think I can find you a link for it.

Should be there if you scroll down the page a bit.
