Hi! I want to buy a Samsung C24RG50FQU, it is a 144 Hz monitor. As far as I know my laptop does not have a display port. Or does it? If not, what is the way for me to connect the monitor so it is not "downgraded" back to 60 Hz? Thanks in advance?

i heard those adapters dont work to well. stick with hdmi only. if you havent got the monitor yet pic something with hdmi 2.0. if u have it already and its 1.4 only then yes youll get bottlenecked to 1.4.
but according to sources your good at 1080p at 144 hz. so you should be set.

    Hi @georgina

High refresh rates in monitors are supported only via display port cable.

Hope it will help you in some way.

Yes but my question is, how can I use it in 144 Hz with this specific laptop I wrote in the title? How to? Since this laptop does not have a display port.

HDMI 2.0 will do 144hz at 1080P. You need to check which ports that laptop has! If you have a GPU then probs a HDMI 2.0. I got my nitro 5 working with a 144hz monitor oover HDMI 2.0B -port, 2,0b cable and 2.0 monitor.

Heres an answer form a good monitor displays site @georgina

To output 1080p content at 144Hz, you will need either a Dual-Link DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI 1.4 cable (or better). However, note that some monitors with HDMI 1.4 are limited to 60Hz or 120Hz.

For 144Hz at 1440p, you will need at least HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.2 while for 4K 144Hz you are going to need HDMI 2.1 or alternatively, DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC 1.2.

So you can do 144 hz with your HDMI 2.0 at 1080P and `1440P!

Yes but isn't the monitor's HDMI 1.4 port a bottleneck for all that? I mean, my laptop has a HDMI 2.0 port, I can get a HDMI 2.0 cable but the monitor's port is still 1.4, will it not just cut it off at 60 Hz?
Or another alternative, isn't there a Displayport - HDMI 2.0 adapter (Displayport in montior, HDMI into the laptop)?
Seems like an unsolvable problem so far :(

I found this in the monitor's description:
"On the back of the monitor, you’ll find two HDMI 1.4 ports, DisplayPort 1.2, VGA, and a headphones jack. Both HDMI ports and the DisplayPort input support AMD FreeSync and 144Hz at 1080p." so it seems to me 144 Hz is possible through HDMI 1.4. I guess that answers my question.
    Thank you for your answers!
