Hi! I am planning to buy a Samsung C24RG50FQU monitor. My question is, does my laptop have the required HDMI 1.4 port? Thanks in advance!

Yes but does it support 144 Hz through HDMI? Don't I need a display port cabel for that? If I do, how do i connect it to this laptop, since it has no port for that?

what GPU does your laptop have? Do you use it plugged in?
    What resolution is your monitor?
    Please list these specs.

Also to your question, HDMI 2.0 will do 144HZ at 1080P. please google for HDMI full specs , display ninja is a good site.

Im doing 100hz at 1080P easy with my gpu 1650ti.

What application are you using the monitor for? videos or gaming or what?

You gota answer all these questions

    Hello,
As I can read, the HDMI version of this monitor is 1.4 so I don't think you'll get a refresh rate of 144Hz but may be 120Hz. I would suggest you to ask the question to their support.

My laptop has a GTX 1050, (I'm not sure what does "plugged in" mean), the monitor resolution is 1920x1080 pixels.
I am using it for many things, but most importantly I would use it for gaming, yes.
The monitor has a HDMI 1.4 port and I am not sure even 120 Hz will work through that. I would be more than happy with 120 Hz untill I get a PC.

Yes it is 1.4. I would be happy with 120 Hz aswell actually. I asked their support and they said I could get 120 Hz if my GPU supports it. I am not sure how to check that :(
Isn't there a way to use the Displayport on the monitor and the HDMI port on my laptop with an adapter? So far I only saw adapters the other way around :( Is it really possible there is no way to use a 144 Hz monitor with a laptop with no Displayport? I have spent days trying to figure it out.

I have still not given up trying to find a solution. My laptop has a USB-C port. Would the 144 Hz thing work through something like this:
    https://www.amazon.com/JCA141-J5-Create-Type-C-Adapter/dp/B016ZZMV0U
So a Type-c male to Displayport male cable?

use that display ninja site to find out what hz a 1.4 hdmi port can do. You might be out of luck with the 1.4 hdmi port monitor BUT @ 1080P you should be able to get something (refresh rate) decent i hope.

You need to game with the laptop plugged in to the charger otherwise your computer wont give you max performance and on battery its terrible. So plug into a socket. So you get enough electricity to power your components.

Also, you need to know that your refresh rate and in game FPS have a relationship when getting good image/display.
You can only see as many frames as your computer can generate and monitor will display. For example, you have a GTX1050 and are playing call of duty. You get 60 FPS ( from the computer) then your monitor will only show 60 frames through your monitor. SO really, all you want is a 60 HZ refresh rate then because you cant get 144 frames from a 60fps hardware.

So even though your monitor does 144 hz you probably wont get 144 frames to your eye. your monitor will refresh 144 times but roughly twice will be the same frame/image.

So you need to match your ingame FPS to your monitors refresh rate. mainly because that all youll see but also reduces tearing and other visual issues.

unless your getting more FPS then adjust your monitors HZ/refresh rate to equal that.

pretty sure you cant get video from usb c on acer nitro or aspire gaming. they have hdmi and only buy a monitor with HDMI 2.0!!! laurent has the service manual so he knows what hdmi you have dont down grade

someone enlighten me if ive made a mistake here! just the knowledge i learnt whilst setting up my external monitor.
