Hello Guys,

I recently upgraded my laptop and installed M.2 ssd. I installed operating system on my M.2 but eveytime that i will turn on my laptop both operating system on SSD and HDD is showing and asking me to choose. But definitely i want to use the Operating system on my SSD only. here's what's happening:

I need help on booting my M.2 as prio because if I choose the UEFI the M.2 is not showing on boot priorities

but if i choose the legacy on bios, I was able to choose the M.2 as prio

But when i make the SSD as prio I'm getting this error:

Please Help!

    Temporarily disconnect the old drive HDD0. Does the system boot OK from HDD1 without HDD0 connected? If it does, we'll proceed from there to make sure it boots from HDD1 with HDD0 connected.  Jack E/NJ

    I just tried to remove the old drive but there was an error no bootable device or no operating system. Tried to remove it and change it to legacy and UEFI :( but when I install the HDD there were no errors at all. Is it really not possible to have an M.2 for an operating system

    >>>I just tried to remove the old drive>>>

    Tried??? The HDD0 must be disconnected from the mainboard. Then you must reenter the BIOS to make sure HDD1 is still in the BIOS Infomation and Boot tabs. HDD0 must not appear anywhere in the BIOS menu. You must also be UEFI mode. Legacy mode won't work. Jack E/NJ

    Yes, I did uninstall the HDD0 or disconnected it to the sata connection. The HDD0 is the 1TB HDD. I removed it from the laptop and boot it up and made sure that only the m.2 has the operating system but still getting the same error no bootable device. I tried it on UEFI mode and legacy mode still won't work

    If you tried to clone or migrate the 2.5" HDD to the m.2 SSD, this has resulted a hidden efi partition on the m.2 SSD that won't be accepted by the UEFI BIOS. You must re-install Win10 on the m.2 SSD in UEFI mode only with the HDD disconnected. Go to this link to make a Win10 USB installation pendrive using Microsoft's USB media creation tool. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10  Jack E/NJ

    I guess I was wrong when I installed the win10 to m.2 ssd while the HDD was connected. Will try to reinstall the OS in m.2. Will update you once done. Thank you for helping me!

    OK. Yes, pretty sure the UEFI bootstrapper is thoroughly confused as to which 'trusted file on which EFI partition to trust' so to speak.  :) So it probably defaults to the one it used to trust on the old drive and won't touch the one on the m.2. Jack E/NJ

    @JackE also,

    Should I purchase 2400mhz as well?

    Because according to this, it supports 2133 and 1866

    A 4GB DDR4 sodimm module might help. 2400MHz should work fine because it automatically adjusts to your 1866MHz mainboard speed. Jack E/NJ

    So you mean, It doesn't matter if I purchase the 24000mhz or 1866 or 2133??

    No difference. Even a 3200MHz sodimm will only run at the 1866MHz max speed allowed by the mainboard. Any DDR4 sodimm equal to or greater than 1866MHz will run at the maximum 1866MHz allowed by the mainboard. Jack E/NJ
