Hi, So I had recently bought a new 8gig stick of ram, the exact one is listed on amazon as "crucial Ram 8gb ddr4 2666mhz cl19 laptop memory Ct8g4Sfra266"
And when putting it into the second ram slot of my nitro 5 It wouldn't boot, I simply got a black screen and the lights on the keyboard turned on. I tested to see if it was a ram issue by putting simply swapping it with the 8gig stick that came with my laptop and it booted just fine. It's only when both sticks are in the computer that this issue happens. I tried resetting the battery as well and the issue still continues to happen. The model number of my Nitro 5 is AN515-53-55G9. Can anyone help out?

Update: This issue only seems to occur when putting it in the unused ram slot
  • Hi,
Have you checked the second RAM slot by installing the original RAM module in it? if not, give it a try, check each slot with the working  RAM module.

My acer nitro 5 came with a single 8 gig originally. In the slot that had the original ram stick both sticks work 100% fine. However when I test the sticks in the other slot, that's when this problem happens. This problem only happens when anything goes in the second ram slot.

Whenever either of the two stick of ram are placed in that slot the problem occurs and the pc won't boot giving me the black screen but my keyboard lights turn on.

However when either of the two sticks are placed in this slot, the computer boots perfectly fine

  • Hi,
Then it's the broken slot, you have to send it for a Repair service to Acer support centre or authorised repair centre near you, I think they will have to replace the Motherboard or repair the slot.

Hi, I bought the ryzen 5600h model with 1650. While buying I upgraded it to 16 gigs and it was fine for some days. But after some days, the black screen error striked me as well. I took it to service center and they said that it is the slot problem. So i did a little more searches and found about the ram variants like x8 and x16. The company has given me one ram with x8 and another with x16. So i just replaced the x16 with another x8 ram and it seems to work now. Thank you
