Hi there, have had this new laptop for just over a month now (bought brand new in October 2020) and the touchpad no longer works, so have to continuously use the mouse.  All the settings are correct, so just wondering how I go about getting this working again.  Is there a driver update that needs to be done?  Would appreciate your assistance with this.  Many thanks.

The simplest way to check is to do this, go to “Device Manager” > Mice and other devices and see if your input device is there? If it is then uninstall that driver and reboot your computer as that should revitalise the driver, if the driver is not there then try to reinstall it from the Acer drivers site for your Aspire 3 A315-22 if that doesn’t work then “Don’t Touch It” and/or open it, send your Aspire 3 A315-22 back to Acer as your laptop is under warranty and Acer will replace your top cover with a new touchpad.

I think I fixed the problem.  I went to Device Manager>Mice and other devices and uninstalled the driver and rebooted, like you said, but wasn't able to reinstall the driver (as it was asking me to install something else first which wasn't showing on the list).  So after reading other comments elsewhere about this problem, I ended up pushing "FN and F7" together for a bit and it came up with "Turn on caret browsing - you can navigate pages with a text cursor.  Press F7 to turn off".  So I turned on and it seemed to work.  I notice that every time I used the laptop recently (when the touchpad wasn't working) there was a red icon that kept coming up with a hand on a square with a circle with line through it (which I now realise happens to be the icon on the F7 button).  So I think I may have pushed this button to do a spell check, which could have then turned the caret browsing off.  So if your touchpad stops working, then push FN and F7 together to turn it back on.  Then should be working again.  Seems to work for me now.  Yaaahhh!!
